It’s a start. Incremental urbanism is the way.

A lot of people just can’t envision the benefits, but these short trials can have a snowball effect.

Long term, it’s also so dumb that the Northeast has regional flights, clogging runways and the air. Complete failure by our DOTs to not have NEC HSR.

I was really hopeful for SmartCars when they came out, but Americans said nope, make my SUVs and Trucks larger but have less utility.

PNC tried to sublease this space, but it’s such a bad location.

$50 fine is too low.

I wonder if cops will actually pursue vehicles when they see a concealed plate.

I think the end game here is some type of drone tech that deploys when a license plate can’t be read by a speed/red light/sound camera, that directs officers to the vehicle in question.

And the large Italian population plays into this. My grandmom was Sicilian and grew up on a farm in Swedesboro, NJ. There were a lot of Italian farming family's like hers in that area.

Sadly, over the last 30 years, many of these farms were turned into sprawling McMansions on isolated culdesacs.

As someone who grew up in South Jersey, my understanding is that it's due to the sandy soil caused by that region once being covered by the ocean.

Have to go to a roadside farmstand for the best tomatoes.

In this post congestion tax world, maybe there would be more interest in it at this point

Tolling 76 to pay for SEPTA needs to be on the table.

bsky.app/profile/jame...
[163k vehicles per day] x 365 x [$3 avg toll per vehicle] x [10% reduction in traffic] = $160mm/year in new revenue

This could support a $2 Billion, 30-year maturity municipal bond (1.5x DSCR, 4.5% interest rate).

$2B for capital expenses would go a long way in upgrading SEPTA.
The success of congestion pricing in New York should open lawmakers' eyes to what was once considered impossible—tolling the Schuylkill Expressway.
