It took seeing adult bullies to understand that my childhood bullies didn’t even really want to hurt me, they just wanted to feel powerful and how I felt about it wasn’t even in the equation.
I can’t imagine someone not outgrowing that, but apparently it happens quite a lot!

I’m at the end of the term for school which means a lot of work to finish. My ADHD won’t allow more than 20 minutes on a task so I treat myself to 15 min of work 15 min of phone time. It works….mostly

This past year had been hard. Dealing with a lull in the career, 2 operations, recovery from cancer, and the election. I don’t like talking about the struggles but man they were Struggly.

it’s because what they are actually obsessed with is the image of the soot-covered American Working Man, clad in his hard hat. no amount of actual industrial revitalization will satisfy the desire to make the American Working Man great again, especially if the new jobs are coded as feminine
Populists on the left and right are *obsessed* with the "industrial town in middle America that dried up after the factory closed down".
But guess what? The people who worked in that factory largely just *got new jobs*. They're not all sitting there waiting for the messianic return of the factory!

Like, seriously. America is at *historically low* unemployment rates. Once we've successfully nuked our overseas trade and ability to outsource low-wage blue-collar jobs, who will do those jobs domestically? What part of the workforce will take a cut in pay and work experience?
