Aiming to be older & wiser than I was yesterday, everyday.

Just a 50-ish, artsy-ish, opinionated-ish, midwestern gal who is afraid that America may no longer be, if it ever was, the America we thought we had and were all promised.
why does this administration think they can question settled law? EMTALA has been law since 1986, (it makes me nauseated to say this) thanks to Ronald Reagan. ALL patients, regardless of their status, BY LAW are entitled to care.
REPORTER: Should ERs check immigration status before treating a dying patient?

LEAVITT: That's probably not a question for me to answer. That's a question for healthcare professionals and legal experts to answer.

(That's not a no!)

My grandmother (born 1904) drank raw milk as a child. She explained to me it HAD to be strained, then boiled, sometimes twice, before it was safe, "but we don't have to do that now".

So either the raw milk folks of today WANT to get sick or they want women to go back to doing the dirty work.
When people say "We used to drink raw milk from our own cow and it was fine,"

That's... usually not the case!

In families w their own cow, the mom usually boiled it before using.

We just forgot bc that's a boring chore that mom did. And who pays attention to that?

really driving the point home that they have no idea what 'data' actually is. Especially what scientific data is. Which is why they equate their anecdotal data ("families say") with actual data gathered utilizing the scientific method and then think they are making a valid point.
Makary: "We have a lot of data and it may not necessarily be the traditional 50 year randomized control trial follow up. It's data from families that say their kids have been acting with bad behavior ... and they eliminate the petroleum-based food dyes and the behavior improves. That is data."

The arrogance here is that these folks have a preconceived notion of the information they need instead of realizing they may gain information they don't know exists but would certainly get by READING ABOUT IT. And they somehow think it's a virtue to skip this crucial step. I weep for these people.
These people are the enemy.
June 15, 2025 at 5:14 PM
Just because they don't read anything, do they think that no one else does? Is the thinking here "no one is going to read it anyway"?

Seems everything for this entire administration is "TL;DR", including the US constitution, sadly.
"The HHS document says that another paper it cites found 'an increase in placental blood clotting in pregnant mothers who took the vaccine.'

But the paper doesn't contain any reference to placental blood clots or to pregnant women."

A document circulated to members of Congress misinterprets studies and cites debunked research, scientists say. It could influence congressional perceptions of vaccine safety.

"1.2 Million people are ineligible to be on the program."

Mikey here wants us to believe that 1 in every 300 people in this country is committing Medicaid fraud.

Then kick them off and charge them with fraud. go on, do it.

PROVIDERS are the ones are committing fraud, you absolutely evil idiot.
WELKER: Do you have any actual evidence that the people who will lose Medicaid coverage are engaging in fraud?

MIKE JOHNSON: Well, there is a tremendous amount of fraud in Medicaid

A, you can't bring your rights with you. Rights are dependent on land you're ON. If you go somewhere else you're bound by THEIR laws.
B, free speech isn't a birthright, it's a right enshrined in the US Constitution and applies to ALL PERSONS IN THE US - even people you don't like.

If asking artists for permission to use their work 'kills' an industry, it should die.

And it won't kill anything. AI is, can, and should be used for certain things - science, medicine, tech, industry, professional sector jobs, etc. AI generated "art", isn't art. It's theft.

I don't want to change, but if I must, I must. I've been a Verizon customer for at LEAST 20 years.

At this rate, we won't have to tell anyone how we voted. All will be known in the answers to questions like, Who's your cell phone provider? Or, Do you have a Costco membership?

I'm so tired.

I literally believed he understood that the MS-13 on the photo was to (incorrectly, laughably) denote what each symbol on Garcia's hand supposedly meant, not that he actually thought they were PART OF THE TATTOO.

And he thinks it's rude when we won't just "go along" with his complete wrongness.
This exchange is so very telling.

Trump repeatedly claims the photoshopped MS-13 on Kilmar Abrego Garcia's knuckles is real, Terry Moran keeps telling him it isn't, prompting Trump to say this:

"I never heard of you. I picked you. You’re not being very nice. He had MS-13 tattooed... Just say yes!"

Does he think we're all as dumb as he is?
ALL borders are artificial lines, you putz.
The US/CA border is straight because it is the 49th parallel (also an artificial line, 49° above the equator)
I honestly think he believes the planet looks like a globe. Like, each country is a different color.
DOOCY: Are you concerned that if Canada became the 51st state, it would be a very very blue state?

TRUMP: You have that artificial line that looks like it was drawn by a ruler. I don't mean a ruler like a king, I mean a ruler like a ruler. It's just an artificial line.

He constantly abuses 'nature abhors a vacuum'. The proper response would be a heartfelt statement acknowledging the loss and that more will be known after a full investigation.

Not this guy, he has to instantly fill the space with BS and make it official policy.

He will fail to meet every moment.

so wait...he admits that their (and by extension, his) grandparents and great grandparents did actually commit sins.

Yet he's in lock step with the same ideology?

Were not buying your BS, Elon.

It's not guilt they feel, it's distain.

Just like we feel about you.
" I think there's too much of a focus on past guilt, … Children should not be guilty of the sins of their parents, let alone their great grandparents ..”

First, anybody else getting nauseated at seeing him sit at the resolute desk again?

Also, a prediction:

Tariffs will make prices increase, foreign AND domestic. They may cause US goods to cost less than imports, but goods won't be as cheap as they were before the tariffs were in place.

Absolutely disgusting.

We're only into the first few hours of what will be a very long 4 years.

This administration, with no need to impress voters any more, have unapologetically ripped off the masks.

This is only a glimpse of how ugly they are, have always been, and will continue to be.

So Elon's knowledge of how the PA vote counting computers work was effective for Donald's win in PA

Is that right?

Sounds a bit CRIMINAL. Keep talkin' Donny, tell us what else was 'effective'.

And 50.4% of PA voters isn't a landslide. It isn't even "like" a landslide. It isn't even "pretty good".
A confession?

It's a desert, Mike. A dry, arid, windy desert, which *literally* creates a tinder box and has for millennia. Only 2 things have changed. People live there (LOTS of them) & climate change. In America, we help our people. And the only foolishness is the LACK of policies to combat climate change.
WELKER: Can you commit that California disaster relief won't have strings attached?

MIKE JOHNSON: No, I won't commit to that ... when state and local officials make foolish policy decisions that make the disaster exponentially worse, we need to factor that in.
