I've been having some non-blurby thoughts about gaming, and maybe I need to power up a blog or something. Even if nobody reads it, it'd be nice to write something a little more long form.

One thing about professors being frustrated with AI writing that I find a little amusing is that as problematic as AI slop is, I would still rather read it than the majority of published academic articles.

"Cruel Summer" is a pretty good song, but I think this one is better. I remember it being on the radio, but it kind of disappeared. Deserves a remaster. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFzL...

I've been playing TTRPGs entirely online ever since pandemic times. It has me thinking a lot about how VTTs make some things easier/harder. Games that I would probably find a little too fiddly/crunchy are actually kind of fun when VTTs do some of the work.

I’m not really a boxing guy, but I did enjoy watching and rewatching some highlights from a recent bout.

Last night we got around to watching Spinal Tap 2, and that might have made this morning’s news even sadder.

The FIFA thing reminded me of when I worked in corporate America and we would "apply" to all these awards by paying some outrageous fee, and would get some stupid jpg that we could post on our site to make the software sound extra legit. Press release, etc. So ridiculous.

Is "dowleresque" a thing? I made some hex tiles to use in Roll20 that feel very @tonydowler.bsky.social. I'm doing things in the game as sort of a space hex crawl, where blazing the trail is very slow and difficult, but once you do, you can zip along the route easy peasy.

Sometimes all this AI stuff feels like when I was in school and would spend three hours trying to find a way to get out of doing 30 min of homework.

More tinkering with the Drift. I like the idea of there being different sectors, or districts. The Pageant is meant for diplomacy and negotiation. The Rialto is a sprawling market where you can buy things or whole containers of things. The Quagmire is full of secrets and despair.
