We’ve seen similar data on every corridor where @ddotdc.bsky.social has installed protected bike lanes. Yet for each new project WUSA9 does a segment quoting random drivers worried bike lanes are a “safety hazard” & DDOT delays to address “concerns.”
The data is settled. Build the damn bike lanes.

DDOT continues to publish before/after analyses of safety projects. The numbers for the 9th street NW bike lanes suggest that we should be doing these projects everywhere we can. Crashes plummeted, pedestrian and bike traffic skyrocketed, and vehicle travel times dropped.

As in the notoriously dangerous L St NW bike lane that was supposed to be turned into a protected cycle track after @mayorbowser.dc.gov inexplicably killed the K St Transitway bike lanes against DDOT recommendations? Sure seems like the Mayor’s indefensible meddling is getting people hurt!
