I dedicated years of my life to reporting on January 6 and exposing what happened. I was there that day, co-wrote a book, and published a series of major stories on my own, for Rolling Stone, and for TPM.

I hope it mattered. I hope history will remember and understand what happened.

As always @nialloconghaile.bsky.social you speak common sense. UK establishment continues to be incapable of seeing things beyond a UK perspective of want UK wants.
It remains basic stuff: if you want the club benefits - and UK does: it *needs* them - join the bloody club ...like everybody else does

Now - Farage's Reform is poised to take a rumoured £100 million from Elon Musk and the right wing media doesn't bat an eyelid.

If we’d been shown this headline in 2016, we may have struggled to believe such a mess could be possible. But here we are, 8 years on, being asked to consider concessions on fish and opportunities for young people.
And the inescapable crappiness and tedium of it all is.. well.. just so very sad.

We desperately need housing supply. But we also desperately need interesting, innovative, well built developments and new towns. We need not only to talk about how much we're building, but what and how. When we only talk about the former we just get shoddily built, identikit houses which won't last.

Your regular reminder that there are only 2 countries in the world with religious clerics guaranteed seats in government or parliament: Iran… and the UK.
Yet again, peers from across the House have called for the removal of the bishops. We agree. No seats should be given as of right to one religion or belief. The Bill to remove Hereditary peers is welcome, but should extend to Lords Spiritual too. humanists.uk/2024/12/12/p...

There is no "90/180 problem".

The 90/180 visa waiver is set up to serve 🇪🇺 citizens and MSs. It's works for us and allows open borders. It is an amazing totem of unity.

Attacking it is attacking Europe.

Because your problem is not our entry requirements; your problem is Brexit.

Is exceptionalism a polite word for arrogance. Brexit people I spoke to didn't know or care about details. They were OK to kick out EU, FOM migrants, and accept facile stmts that it would fix everything. There was an implicit belief that UK was better and EU would bend over to give any deal wanted

Growing up in Oldham I watched the Metrolink network transform Greater Manchester.

Connectivity has opened up so many opportunities and experiences for people across the region, especially young people.

I had no idea the expansion we’ve seen was in large part thanks to EU funding!
"network upgrades made possible in large part by European Union grants and inexpensive loans more than doubled the size of the Metrolink network from 24 miles to 57 miles, and more than tripled the number of trams on the system."
