I’ve been reading fewer books than I want to this year and I decided that I want to read 25 books from today December 15th until August 30th 2025

This is a thread of the books I’ve read.
I’m living on my own for a week before my roommate moves in and no one told me that when you live alone the house still makes noises.

Like is that the neighbours or is that the building.

I’m moving out for the first time and my mom is fully acting like I’m dying. She keeps looking at me like she’s about to cry.

All of the food I’m taking with me while I’m moving out is the obscure stuff that none of my family uses so it ranges from pretty average stuff like mustard powder and molasses all the way to 80% gluten flour and superfine sugar

I am moving out for the first time my brain has been singing

🎵 “ I have a lease, I have a lease, I have a lease.”🎶

Over and over again.

I walking a shelf at forehead level while trying to dodge a customer at work. The whole day I had been shifting things to make them more safe because I knew that was a clumsy day and I hit a shelf that does not move.
What's the stupidest way you've hurt yourself?

Oh I'm so glad you asked! I knocked myself out with a frozen bag of omelettes.

I had a pair of sweatpants where the drawstring came out

Here a list of things that I tried

Darning needle ❌ too small
Knitting needles ❌ doesn’t hold
Pen with clip ❌ too wide

Wooden chopsticks that haven’t been broken ✅
Flat and holds the drawstring and long enough to go through easily.

The Syrian Arabic word for a hamster is أبو جراب (abu jrab), where jrab refers to a pouch/saddlebag/tote. And abu often means “father of,” but can also function as a general honorific (like “mister”). So it’s not too big a stretch to say the Syrian Arabic word for a hamster means “Mister Saddlebags”

It’s not even just an anger issue I was going to go twice and now I’m going 0 times. I love my family but travel is expensive and I don’t want to risk getting detained or deported to somewhere other than canada.
America is blissfully unaware that their tourism industry will be decimated for a decade, likely a generation.

They still think this is a temporary tariff dispute, and are used to recovering quickly … but Canadians and Mexicans are their top customers by far. They ain’t coming back anytime soon.
It's astonishing how much damage has been done in such a short time. Flight bookings from Canada to the US have dropped over 70%. I can't see myself going to the US for a very long time.

I have headphones that I can make chirp when I loose them.

I spent the last 5/10 minutes trying to find them and driving myself crazy because the sound wasn’t changing and my phone said I wasn’t getting closer or further

They were in my Fanny pack which I am wearing.
*sigh*

I saw a CBC news bit about tariffs and different Canadian businesses that are going to be affected. Hardbite was one of them. I saw it at shoppers and decided to give them a try. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ great taste and I feel light afterwards.

You unlocked a memory I didn’t know I had.

I was asked to translate for a new kid who spoke Arabic when I was in 7th grade and maybe 12.

I’m Sudanese and first generation I have had barely any formal Arabic instruction at all. This kid saw from Saudi
So public school Texas story w/ already limited ESL resources.
When I was in 4th grade, so 9, I was tasked with translating classes for a Colombian student. Me, a child. Free school lunch kid, CHIP kid.

But yall know what, that boy and I ended up graduating in the top of our class together.
