And that’s making me realise, Nigel Tufnell was right all along! There IS a good reason to go above a top limit but still have that limit as a line you only cross for special reasons. He was an audio genius.

When I think about it too much i start hearing this dialog in my head:
“Why not just make 10 the whitest, and make that the top number, and make that a bit whiter?”
“… this whiteness goes up to 11.”

Gets more complicated with the varied implementations of HDR in displays. My PC monitor is “HDR” but only pushes a couple of hundred nits (or something!) into the beyond white area. The iPhone does more, I think.

Can confirm that looks cracking on an HDR screen, the sky pops without being blown out and the interior is still detailed. And yeah there’s lots of confusion in the way HDR has been used to mean different things.

That one passed me by in the Vic20 catalog. In fact looking at list of a lot of the “best” games for that machine I didn’t play many of them. I think that was ‘cos we shipped off to Sri Lanka when I’d just got it, and there weren’t many software shops out there! Had to make do with Adventureland.

Now imagining a next-level version that took where you’d placed the map outline and generated a proper Tube map with the place names replaced by the nearest street or place name to where that station ended up. Impossible to code but would look awesome.
