I thought, at first, the book has been spiral bound!

Morning Womble, I am now reading 'Anthem' by Noah Hawley with some 'Dead of Winter' by Sarah Clegg for some Christmas creepiness on the side

The key question is, what happens when the two are placed together on the bookshelf?

This may be the answer. A novel with a dash of folklore on the side.

Thanks for the heads up. I enjoy so many of Adrian's books, but for a reason I can't quite identify, these just aren't for me. (At least with Adrian, you know another banger will turn up in the next 5 minutes!)

I read the first one and then Lives of Bitter Rain.

I feel like I'm the only person in the world who struggles with this series. So much so, I want to keep reading it, in the hope it suddenly clicks

Morning Womble. It's book changeover day today but I'm in a quandary. Can't decide between Anthem by Noah Hawley (which has been on the tbr for ages) The Dead of Winter - Christmas folklore - or Jonathan Coe's Proof of my Innocence, which is my book group's December pick.

The sign worked!

Morning Womble. Glad to hear you're feeling better. I've just started God's Junk Drawer by Peter Clines, which is very readable. It features time travel and dinosaurs, which is an ambitious combination!

Colour me intrigued.

Morning! Volatile Memory by Seth Haddon - it's a future where people wear masks of animals that grant them equivalent abilities (like an Ox mask, which gives them strength). It's told from the point of view of a sentient mask in the 2nd person, with a bit of 1st narration thrown in. It's very clever

I must confess, I gave up on this one. I wanted to love it. I was waiting for a "Neal Stephenson" moment, but it didn't arrive. Perhaps I should pick it up again and have another go, but life feels like it might be too short!
