Blood of the Bull from #warhammerunderworlds finished.
Now to workout which decks to play them with. #paintingwarhammer

I've been painting up some #warhammerunderworlds minis from the latest Spitewood boxed set that GW sent us to review.

Unfortunately, I'm having to take a break from long-form reviews, but I have a few books I'm slated to review that I'd like to shout about, starting with "Who Will You Save?," a collection of short stories by @garethlpowell.bsky.social from @titanbooks.bsky.social . #sff #booksky

Stayed up late finishing 'Daughter of the Otherworld' by @shaunalawless.bsky.social.
A great transition into a new era of the Gael Song saga.
I'm so invested in these characters' lives, it's almost painful. Once again, the end has left me hanging out for more! #booksky @headofzeus.bsky.social

I'm AFK at the moment, so can't write a full review of "The Damned King" but I can report that @justinleeanderson.com has smashed it out of the park again. Such good characters and a great story with a dastardly villain!

Please don't leave us waiting for book 4. I have to know! #booksky

It's my turn on the blog tour for Seven Recipes for Revolution by Ryan Rose from @daphnepress.bsky.social

"Paprick is a common butcher, carving slabs of meat from gargantuan monsters so elite chefs can prepare magic-granting meals for the rich." If that premise doesn't intrigue you, nothing will!

Unexpected book post this week, with a garden theme!

"The Strange Disappearance of Imogen Good" by Kirsty Applebaum promises a hidden garden, an ancient fairy tale, and a missing child.

Looking forward to reading this one. It's out in September from @nosycrow.bsky.social

We have been messing around with the most recent Kill Team starter set. I had to pause to paint up Kamandora for Underworlds but now I'm back on it and up to 3 Imperial Fists

My most hotly anticipated book of 2025 has arrived! Sent to me by @orbitbooks.bsky.social
@justinleeanderson.com's "Eidyn Saga" has been the best fantasy series I've read in years. I dropped my current read, and dived straight in. Pictured with my new agave bookstand!

No books today but some #warhammer instead. GW sent us a box of Kamandora's Blades from #WHU. Death by 1000 Cuts for the Blood God, or something.

Yesterday's book post saw the arrival of 'Acts of God' by Kanan Gill, sent to me by @blackstonepub.bsky.social. Its philosophical underpinnings look to chime with today's book post, 'Circular Motion' by Alex Foster from @atlanticbooks.bsky.social #booksky Very much looking forward to reading both!

Trying to get back into the Book Garden groove, with a lovely package from @walkerbooksuk.bsky.social

"Oxford Blood" by Rachael Davis-Featherstone is a YA, dark academia thriller exploring ambition, privilege and deadly secrets!

Looking forward to reading on my summer break. Out in September!

Been in the book doldrums recently, but glad to come back to it with a @blackcrowpr.bsky.social cover reveal. An epic fantasy featuring gods, dragons and magic. It's by @ryancahill.bsky.social published by @thebrokenbinding.bsky.social #TheBoundandTheBroken #OfBloodandFire #fantasy #booksky

A full review to come, but I wanted to stop by to say that "Kill Them With Kindness" by @willcarver.bsky.social is such an amazing read. So many themes and ideas mixed up in an enthralling plot. It's out on 19/6 from @orendabooks.bsky.social
Oddly, no yellow in the garden but here's a clematis!
June 13, 2025 at 10:33 AM
This one because I'm old. I still have it and the 3rd ed Warhammer armies too.
I spent hours building armies with them both.

The skies have clouded over and rain is on its way to the Book Garden, but @canongate.co.uk has brightened things up by sending me a copy of @matthaig.bsky.social newest book, "The Life Impossible," which is just out in paperback.

Featured here with vibrant rhododendron. #booksky

@walkerbooksuk.bsky.social have kindly sent me proof of Alex Horne's "The Last Pebble," a story about grandparents. My dad has passed on, but he instilled in me an interest, which is becoming a passion for gardening. I'm nowhere near his level, but on some days it looks pretty fine! #booksky

New book post for me from @titanbooks.bsky.social. "City of All Seasons" looking good as my pots get ready for summer! The book looks to be an interesting fractured city fantasy.
May 29, 2025 at 6:14 PM
@angryrobotbooks.bsky.social have kindly sent me a copy of B.F. Peterson's "The Ellyrian Code."
It's an academia-based fantasy with elite dragon orders and back-stabbing student politics. Released 24th June.

Featured here with my allium patch, which is looking better than ever this year! #booksky

I was wondering what book to post today when this beauty turned up from @nosycrow.bsky.social. What an amazing concept!

May/June is the time my garden looks best - geums are out in full! This book is out in full on June 5th! #booksky

@aptshadow.bsky.social is back in June, with 'Bee Speaker.'

This series is my favorite of his. Amazing world-building and absorbing stories.

The bee speaker in this picture is one of the many aquilegia in my garden.

Many thanks to @headofzeus.bsky.social for sending me a copy of the book!
May 12, 2025 at 3:53 PM
@wnbooks.bsky.social kindly sent me a copy of "The Cautious Traveller's Guide to the Wastelands" by Sarah Brooks and it came with a lovely postcard and bookmark.

It's gone straight to the top of the TBR! #booksky

I've been the lucky recipient of a couple of books from Usborne Books. 'Shrapnel Boys' by Jenny Pearson and 'Cruise Kid Ship' by Emma Swann. Two very different books. Looking forward to reading them!
