I live in a townhouse, and my neighbor’s house flooded through our shared wall. I failed to remove my books from the bottom shelves of my bookcases in time, so I’ve got about 30 books with varying levels of water damage from just the corners to like 80% of the book.

Reading A Bánh Mì for Two by Trinity Nguyen. There’s a part where Vivi is expressing her frustration about her mom never telling her the reason she left Vietnam and how she has a right to know bc she’s family. It made me think… We aren’t entitled to know about our parents’ trauma.

Ever since high school, whenever asked, I would say my favorite book was To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It’s still one of my favorites, but now I think I’d like to add The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams to that list.

April 2025 StoryGraph Wrap-Up

April was a slow month for me. I had a really hard time finishing Gender Euphoria, bc my attention span was nearly nonexistent. It was also very busy work-wise, so I didn’t have much desire to read after having to look at screens all day.

“But why shouldn't housework be masculine? What could be more rugged and dad-ly than being strong and active, busting around looking after everyone's physical needs?”

TIL that what I like to do (read an e- or physical book while listening to the audio version) is called immersive reading.

Any memoirs you’d recommend? I’m currently listening to Jennette McCurdy’s “I’m Glad My Mom Died.”
