So, yesterday my trusty ol' Synology DS415+ decided to spice up my day with a dash of cold sweat and panic by showing an orange led in the front panel.

Sure enough, one HDD in the 4-drive pool was "Critical".

I've watched the first two episodes of Apple TV's Pluribus.

I don't get its appeal. A hodgepodge of a number of sci-fi tropes, filler scenes, stilted dialogue, uninteresting characters.

Could've worked as an X-Files episode, though.

Gladys West was instrumental in developing the mathematics behind GPS - but until now her story has remained untold.

Watching "Fletch" (1985), for the umpteenth time.

One of my all-time favourite films and as far as I'm concerned, the best Chevy Chase film.

The world being as fucked up as it is, if you want a respite of all the fuckery, do yourself a favour and watch Fletch.

I really dislike the CGI look of movies these days. It's so obvious and omnipresent. While it may be pretty, in and of itself, it feels... wrong. Inauthentic. It often doesn't so much create an illusion, rather than destroys the illusion.

Can't think of anything interesting contemporary to watch.

So, Casablanca it is. Seen it so many times, and every time I watch it almost feels like the first time.

So perfect a movie.

If I were to choose the best episode of Star Trek, the original series, I think it would have to be The City on the Edge of Forever.

I've watched it many times, and I still love it. (Watching it again right now.)

I've been watching Alien: Earth. Third episode in the series, but the character of Boy Kavalier is frustratingly annoying.

First day of my Philosophy of Cosmology class! I'm interpreting "cosmology" pretty broadly. There will be three main topics: 1) Anthropics and the multiverse; 2) The arrow of time; 3) Quantum foundations, especially Many-Worlds. The idea of self-locating uncertainties will be a common thread.

The 1st episode of Alien: Earth was good. A suitable amount of throwback nostalgia. An interesting premise and setup, and a promise of interesting character development which, of course, remains to be seen.

Still, the best entry to the Alien franchise since Aliens, so far!
