I have a fairly exploratory/speculative manuscript on moral significance in AIs, and I would love comments/remarks on it by people interested in these questions. You will find the draft here: philpapers.org/rec/KAMMSI
François Kammerer, Moral significance in artificial systems: if not consciousness, then what? - PhilPapers
Many think AIs would be morally significant if and only if they are phenomenally conscious in certain ways. This sentientist conception has been challenged, and alternative views emerged, on which age...

The core defence of the right to bear arms in the US has always been that the people needed to be able to protect individual and states' rights from encroachment by the federal government. Yet now *that is actually happening*, the gun lobby appear to be silent.

I have drafted a motivation for my university to leave X/Twitter, arguing that posting to it risks feeding our PR images into the porn and harassment machine (so leading to staff, students or others being harassed) and that being there violates our official stance against gender-based violence. /1

"Tankies" was the name for lefties who continued to support Stalinism even when it became obviously indefensible *by their own standards* (when the tanks went into Hungary). What do we call their equivalents on the right: Icicles?

There may be some utilitarian value in deploying moral opprobrium against ordinary folk who support Trump, but it's near vacuous to explain the situation in terms of individual moral failings. The problem is much deeper and much harder to fix.

This is an excellent illustration of how generative AI can be used positively in an educational context. The source images are shown, and the AI extrapolation is modest but illuminating. The script is good too. Congratulations to the creator! www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3yO...
