Dad to a BIG graphic artist
I got out of the house this evening to the FLGS and joined the fortnightly miniature painting gathering for the first time. I managed to assemble three minis after realising I had the wrong glue and then left them behind as I ran for the train.

One of the new arrivals from the past few weeks. I must confess that I haven't been able to read it yet but am eager with anticipation.

I've just discovered that the intriguing Yeld 2E by @modestmedusa.bsky.social is available on Bundle of Holding for another 8 days. About twenty titles from this kid friendly RPG are available for $17.95, less than the regular price of the core book.

Something I liked about the Chronicles of Prydain is that, at the end of the series, the cast of characters had grown so much by including old villains de-fanged and turned to heroes.

Great paradigm for roleplaying games as well. A good way to build out a stable of available PCs.
I have said before and will say again that it is such a loss that we no longer get covers of this caliber for fantasy books.

This art is by Jean-Léon Huens. These covers are for the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. They lit my imagination on fire as a kid.

So how did law and order work in Medieval England? And can we bring that into D&D? I decided to take a look and found the first thing is that almost no one would tolerate 75% PC foolishness: icastlight.blogspot.com/2025/11/law-...

In 2025 I will begin publishing Cairn supplements for third parties, under the moniker Cairn Press.

If you're a writer and want help with editing, layout, or printing I should be able to hook you up with the right people.

My goal is to make more Cairn content and get people paid for their work.

Would love recommendations for TTRPGs, modules, hacks etc. that explore femininity, misogyny, and gender roles through the lens of horror.

Think ‘Bluebeard’s Bride’ as a great example of the kind of thing I’m after.

Also open to recs from other media (books, films, etc.)

I’m researching 🤓

This forest spirit by @salvaterra.bsky.social is one of my favourites. It spins webs to catch predators, however, anyone passing through who doesn't hunt the local animals or damage the trees and plants has a good chance of remaining safe.

Three more backers to reach the funding goal.

I hope there's something like this at #CanCon26. I've booked the train ticket but still need to sort out accommodation.
Well, I'd say the meet up was a success!!

Thank you all who came, I loved getting to meet you in person and hear what you're working on, and I cannot wait to plan another one of these!!!

I think one big difference is not that wargames and similar old school boardgames are less prone to having colonialist/imperialist assumptions. (Arguably they're worse). It's that they stubbornly refuse to pretend otherwise for my comfort.
...ago about the unspoken divide between combat (ritualized violence) in wargames, and the straight up violence/massacre by which TTRPGs so often operate. Getting rid of morale has a huge semiotic load; one that speaks about the breakdown of rules of engagement and the shifting nature of violence.
