Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people."

I am not exaggerating when I say ICE functions as a terrorist organization in the Twin Cities. The goal seems to be to harass and frighten people (the ones who are lucky enough to not be abducted, at least) and it's deeply unsettling when you learn they're in your neighborhood.

Maryland deserves credit for drawing a hard line: no jack-booted thugs, no imported deportation culture, no loyalty to authoritarian abuse wearing a badge. Protecting civil rights means keeping extremists out of the justice system—and away from the people they’d harm.
