Pretty good idea, I'd say. Allows kids to enjoy the books without drawing unnecessary focus.

A tip for anyone with a pet that is reactive & stressed by fireworks is to stay in a hotel at an airport that accepts pets on & around New Year’s Eve. Apparently the Hilton at Schiphol airport is completely full then & it’s not for a party.

"Banger" is slang for lots of things. It's old-fashioned slang for sausages in England and, when I was growing up in Dublin, it was slang for over-age players in kids' football teams.
