The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

It's near-white out conditions in Chicago as the snow comes down, and tonight's anti-ICE/CBP rally is wrapping up in front of city hall.

But not before the crowd bounces and chants, "I believe that we will win!"

I'm a little in love with the way that guard (diplomat?) strides across the lobby to let the ICE agents know just how unwelcome they are.
1/27/2026 - Minneapolis

ICE just attempted an illegal entry into the ECUADORIAN CONSULATE to abduct someone

They did not have a warrant

The head of the BC Greens is calling on British Columbians to boycott The Jim Pattison Group because it appears to be in the midst of striking a real estate deal with US Homeland Security to sell a building it owns in Virginia to be used as a “processing facility” for ICE
BC Green party calls for consumer coolness toward Pattison companies over potential ICE deal
“I hope that Jim Pattison feels the heat from his consumer base and cuts his ties with ICE,” Emily Lowan tells Capital Daily.

Good article here by Raquel about TCM's MLK Jr. Day programming this year, which looks like wall-to-wall excellence. I'm especially interested in James Baldwin’s documentary I Heard It Through the Grapevine (1982).
Tomorrow @tcmtv.bsky.social celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day with an excellent lineup of civil rights themed films. Everything from features to shorts to documentaries.

Check out my article that accompanies the programming: www.tcm.com/articles/now...
MLK Day
All day on January 19th, we herald an American hero who fought for equality and civil rights with a series of films honoring his legacy.

I'm gonna say this with all the kindness in my heart: you aren't going to survive if you don't let your life have room for other things.

This is not a short term fight where we can just go 24/7 and then it will be over. We've got YEARS ahead of us. Take a break. Hydrate. Go bake something. Breathe.

The reason I dislike the term "content" is that it centers a container, a money-making structure, and reduces creativity to interchangeable "stuff" that exists only to fill that structure.

Just call it writing, videos, whatever it is. It's not something for another thing to "contain."

I really appreciate when people post about good things they do with/for their communities, no matter how small. I know some people believe virtue only counts if you don't talk about it, and if that's you that's fine, but just to say I find it helpful & inspiring to see folks I follow doing cool work

"You and I" or "You and me"?

Which one is right?

Both…depending on whether ‘I/me’ is the subject or the object.

-"You and I are going to the store." (subject)

-"This is for you and me." (object)

Dear artists, it's hard avoiding wondering if what we do is irrelevant or an insult when it's harsh, scary, dangerous & violent out there, but one thing is always true as stone: someone will need what you do, someone won't, & you won't know the difference. Err on the side of hope. Create if u can.
