Of course the courts should be the ones to adjudicate constitutional issues. That’s the whole point of the rule of law, the cornerstone of government. You can’t trust government or popular opinion to determine or safeguard fundamental rights. #cdnpoli www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/art...

This is the point that’s been really annoying me about Alberta’s rhetoric about separation.

It ignores that it’s not up to Alberta, as, unlike Quebec, Alberta did not join Canada, it was created by Canada and the First Nations whose treaties predate the creation of Alberta.

I have a question for my USA friends. I’m reading about pretty clear violations of civil liberties down there by ICE hooligans.

If both of your houses flip in the midterms, is there the ability to prosecute these officers or their bosses? Is that a remedy that is available to Congress?

I, for one, am very pleased that Alberta is newly prepared to accept the federal government’s jurisdiction over provincial affairs. Seems like a win to me.

Even ignoring their poor quality and lack of innovation, I can’t imagine ever buying a US car now.

I’m torn by talk of Poilievre’s leadership being in trouble.

While he’s their leader the Cons can’t win, so I sort of hope he stays.

Nations rarely have the good fortune to have someone the calibre of Mark Carney willing to put up with politics to lead, I don’t want to waste that opportunity.
