My best advice: Don’t overthink it.
Dry: white image on cyan bkgrnd.
Wet: 2 photos: plus vinegar spray, salt; turmeric for the golden fairy dust, soap bubbles … anything goes basically.
Using fresh botanicals. UV rays from the sun.
Exp. time: 5 min., 30 min. and 1 hr.

This Red Admiral must have been full and drowsy in the hot sun. It wasn't bothered a bit by me getting this close.

Pink Chiffon Rose of Sharon. She’s been blooming for months. I’m waiting for her to stop blooming so she can go into a bigger pot.

This cutie is a recent road-find. Thanks, neighbours!
The lever on the right (barely visible) lifts and lowers the wheel assembly.
I’m off thrifting now to find a 15”x21” tabletop of some kind.

Can Not say enough about these Kordes South Africa Sunbelt roses. Cut back after the first flush (gardening technique of choice) they bounced back and in full bloom through drought and extreme heat. they get shade from 2 pm onward.

The second flush of blooms
from my favourite delphinium. After the first flush I cut it all back to 1 or 2” above the ground, feed and allow it to grow back.
So much to do this lovely, cool a.m. but I Can Not get motivated.
30C forecast for later today - ugh.

Another flush of blooms from Sierra Lady. Those tough glossy leaves are tolerating this extreme heat.

I’ve never seen them do this. I love them even more now.

The front-of-house bed. Quick Fire hydrangeas in 3 big ceramic pots; Texas pink nymph salvia in foreground - among others.
I was going to cut back and tidy up beds and planters today but with 33C in the forecast, maybe better to give everything a good soak.

Pink Lavatera grown from seed, looking very hibiscus-like.
The few flowers remaining on hydrangea Moon Rock (possibly) after the wind and rain storm.
These flowers are massive and the damage is to be expected but it’s always hugely disappointing.

Cleome (Spider flower) from seed. The only seeds in a 72 cell seed tray of ass’t plants to germinate. Stem and underside of leaves have needle-sharp thorns.

White Morning Glory flower (bindweed) on Purple Loosestrife. Simple beauty in the ditch.

A colourful mess. From front: Gaura, new to me this year, Zinnia, Lavatera, dark purple Cosmos; Orange Nasturtiums and Verbina bonarensis (?) peeking out the side.
All from seed.

Had to copy this cute diagonal checkerboard idea in front of my greenhouse. I knew there was a reason I left that area unfinished for so long; just waiting for the right thing.
Greenhouse door is usually open and foot traffic shifts to the right side, hence misalignment of big pavers.

Coup de Soleil bearded iris; a bloom but no stem. Its first year in my garden.
Other irises beside it are fine; same growing conditions, lots of blooms on tall, strong stems.
Hoping this will sort itself out for next year.

Surviving another Winter in the same pot (under shelter), this is either The Generous Gardener or A Shropshire Lad; whichever is the more apricot colour.
I need a visit to Select Roses to compare them in bloom with their tags on.

From my garden; Immaculee peony fully opened. I prefer the half opened perfect little cups with their slight pink tinge; they don’t stay in that stage for long.
Can every day be #PeonyDay during their short blooming time?

Well hello, who are you?
Could be her first year blooming as there are only three stems. I’m reasonably confident that I would have remembered this beauty had she bloomed before. Maybe.
Peony amnesia? No …
