Loads of folk said Still was a talented coach and our awful results were the players' fault. Manning siad the players were not to blame. This raised a huge hostage to fortune for today's game. Looks like Manning was right. #Saintsfc

Newmarket MP Matt Hancock gave a £37bn Covid testing contract to Jockey Club director Dido Harding, who subcontracted it to Grand National sponsor Randox, employer of Tory MP Owen Paterson, whose late wife chaired Aintree racecourse. That's how the Tories handled the pandemic.

We've all heard the stat about how much more energy intensive an AI search is compared to a normal search engine search. But whar about using AI to generate fake HD video? This stack is truly disturbing: reclaimedsystems.substack.com/p/every-sora...
Every Sora AI video burns 1 Kilowatt hour and emits 466 grams of carbon. And for what, exactly?
The Sora 2 platform alone emits nearly a quarter of the carbon of all Meta/Facebook

Just had a brilliant conversation with Christian Kent from Plymouth Argyle about sustainability. They installed 1MW of solar capacity at Home Park. The investment paid for itself in 8 MONTHS!!! They sell excess power to local homes at cost & provide at cost EV charging #GreenSky #CarbonLiteracy

Reform council forced to remove flags in order to put up lights for Winterval.

You couldn't make this up (ok, so I made the Winterval bit up, but still...)

The responses to this post tell you that sport is as much cultural as it is spectacle. My son and I can reminisce fondly over a 0-0 draw at Blackburn as being the worst game we ever went to because we understand the game and the context. It is cultural capital.
Reminder that there are people who walk among us who think that international football is boring.

Funny that they didn't apologise for the fact that teacher wellbeing is at an all-time low. 76% of education staff and 86% of senior leaders report feeling stressed. What's the answer? AI derived attendance targets. You couldn't make this shit up!

Don't get hung up on food miles.

Just the methane burps alone from cows produce 3x the total emissions of moving food across the globe!

Add in the deforestation for the voracious demand for cattle feed and you can clearly see why eating beef and dairy is a serious threat to the planet. #Greensky

The argument from Mahmood supporters is, “If liberals won’t enforce borders, fascists will.” On the other hand, leaving asylum seekers in perpetual limbo will stoke division, not heal. This feels feels fairly existential for the Starmer project.

Every single one was from the pro Brexit minority

47 were from UKIP/BP

How major fashion brands "increase" diversity and reduce their carbon footprint through getting rid of their creatives. Fascinating blog: www.anxiety.eco/p/stop-the-a...
Stop the fashion slop: Fake “AI” campaigns destroy creative work. Greenwashing makes it worse.
No, replacing creatives with “AI” generated slop is not a climate solution. It obviously does not “increase diversity.” But that’s exactly what brands from Benetton to Levi’s are claiming. The real mo...

Yesterday will mark a major turning point – the collapse of the European Parliament's decades-old centrist governing majority.

It's the end of an era, and the beginning of another.
The EU Parliament now has a right-wing majority
President von der Leyen's centre-right EPP yesterday broke the centrist coalition, joining with the far right in order to pass the climate deregulation demanded by Trump.
