In this issue, she very much reminds of a Joe Manchin type
December 15, 2025 at 7:29 PM
So is Turner basically an enlightened centrist now? I’d only expect to hear this kind of rhetoric from someone like Manchin
December 15, 2025 at 7:28 PM
It’s also an ”enlightened centrist“ take, at this point.
December 15, 2025 at 7:17 PM
This feels like an ”enlightened centrist” take and not a progressive take. We do want fair maps and no gerrymandering, but so long as one side is doing it, our side is weakened if we play by norms. Until there’s no gerrymandering allowed, both sides have good reason to do it

Medicare for All isn’t necessarily that populist in the every state, and it would ultimately put things like abortion, transgender care, etc under more executive branch control. Without still having some form of a private option, that would be bad under the current administration

I think if I was going to criticize Democrats for something, it’s that while their policies are generally better than those of the right, too many of them have limited spine. Democrats little spine, while the right has virtually no principles
December 8, 2025 at 12:53 AM
Also, Ed’s right. There were too many conservative Democrats in Congress for Obama to go being the ACA. This is basic civics. Marxist-Leninist and others on the far-left seem to not understand civics that well
December 8, 2025 at 12:44 AM
So you think Democrats have the exact same policies as Republicans? Last I checked, Democrats general support LGBT right, while Republicans oppose them. Democrats also want to maintain social security, and Republicans certainly don’t

I think the truth here is that Bernie just doesn’t resonate with key voting blocs. He has long spoken against identity politics and said we should instead discuss class. And while he is generally pro-choice, he has never really prioritized it www.npr.org/2017/04/20/5...
Bernie Sanders Defends Campaigning For Anti-Abortion Rights Democrat
Sanders endorses Heath Mello for mayor of Omaha, Neb., and tells NPR, "In some conservative states there will be candidates that are popular candidates who may not agree with me on every issue."

Also, while I do agree basic healthcare should be a right, M4A, in its proposed form, would put healthcare funding in the hands of the Executive Branch, which would give them more control over our healthcare. it would also mean that under a government shutdown, healthcare wouldn’t be available
December 7, 2025 at 9:45 PM
I think part of the issue with M4A right now is that under that system, our healthcare would be funded by the executive branch. I feel like that would give the president too much control over healthcare, unless we somehow also give people a private option
December 7, 2025 at 9:42 PM
I disagree with that, tbh. As long as the far-right is so heavily funded and as long as we still have Citizens United, we gotta go the fire with fire route. Otherwise, we are at a disadvantage

By the way, it looks like Drop Site News might now be cozying up to Bannon
bsky.app/profile/drop...
Drop Site’s Ryan Grim joined Steve Bannon’s War Room to lay out how PM Keir Starmer’s chief aide Morgan McSweeney oversaw a project called “Stop Funding Fake News,” which sought to demonetize US conservative publication Breitbart & kneecap any publication perceived to support Corbyn’s...

It seems like Grim’s only criteria for being good is that the person is anti-capitalism/anti-establishment

Israel already has weapons without us. There are just less or equal se and more lethal
December 3, 2025 at 5:45 AM
In the past, the 2 political parties weren’t so heavily divided as they are now. So any incumbent president is likely to be unpopular.

As for his brain, he appointed many qualified judges, negotiated with the GOP to keep the government open, etc. Couldn’t have done with an impaired brain
December 3, 2025 at 5:42 AM
In fact, here’s a good article that explains this Better than I could news.northeastern.edu/2024/07/09/b...
Biden's poor debate performance had almost no impact on voter preference, new report says
A new report shows that despite Biden’s debate performance – poor as it may have been – voter preferences haven't been impacted.

Well, he won before. And in this political climate, where the two political parties are heavily divided, it’s not that surprising for the incumbent president to have a low approval rating
December 3, 2025 at 5:33 AM
Well, aside from the fact that his hands were arguably tied, withholding aid from Israel likely would’ve only been symbolic, and would make us lose even more leverage with them. Netanyahu would be even more likely to just go all in and use weapons that are even more lethal
December 2, 2025 at 9:57 PM
So who exactly should’ve replaced him? RFK Jr? Tulsi Gabbard?

Also, he wasn’t on the final ballot, so we don‘t actually know whether he would’ve lost. Incumbent presidents usually win reelection
December 2, 2025 at 9:53 PM
No, because usually, when the incumbent president is impeached, the part in power loses the next election. And I don’t want our side to go the route of using appropriations in ways that haven’t been authorized by Congress
