Today I mark 9 years of extra time because a family donated their loved one’s heart & lungs to me. So much gratitude for them, my husband & son, and my transplant team. Here’s a couple of messages my husband posted 9 years ago.

@michaeljanz.bsky.social these are the type of people building the infill. A 10 unit mid block development with only 2 parking stalls. And 8 units going in across the street with minimal parking. Way to go, Janz. If your goal was to ruin our mature area and lower property values, you did it!

Those fuckers at Google have started randomly renaming provincial parks as “state” parks.

I felt very Canadian today seeing this wonderful documentary on a -32 degree winter day. Blue Rodeo is a significant portion of my life’s soundtrack.

Yesterday, at my dad’s bird feeders there was a sweet saw-whet owl. My dad died this time last year and I’m pretty sure he sent me this owl to watch over me while I filled his bird feeders.

Another lovely snowy snowshoe in the Edmonton River Valley. We really are lucky to have this incredible trail system here full of wonderful single track trails.

First snowy walk for the new kid in the family (on the left). He wasn’t too sure about the white stuff but decided it was kind of fun. #yeghounds #Alberta

Remembrance Day seems very dark this year with the immediate threats to democracy in the US & Canada. It seems a lot of people have forgotten that if we fail to remember history, we repeat it. Here are some stories to remember the women & men fought our freedom and democracy.

Fourth infection, 3rd this year. I just don’t know what to say or do anymore. I mask everywhere. I isolate. We have air purifiers . Family members I live with work & see friends & bring COVID home to me. Every infection has made me lose precious lung & heart function in my transplanted organs. 😭
