English novelist Jane Austen was born 250 years ago #OnThisDay in 1775. This brown/gold silk pelisse, with a pattern of oak leaves, is believed to have been owned by Austen. Dating from around 1814, the pelisse is edged with yellow cord. Hampshire Cultural Trust. #JaneAusten250
