When you see unhoused people asking for money what you should see is a fracturing of the social contract where an issue (housing) that should be addressed on a municipal or statuary level is instead foisted on individuals in a way designed o put callouses on their souls
man I’m sorry to be all corny here but when I see a “the city is beautiful! There’s more to it than homeless people!” I gotta say you know who’s also beautiful? People who have no place to live & are trying to get by in a system that has turned its back on them & if you don’t see that that’s on you

sometimes it's the little things that make me feel like I'm done with technology and its 'helpfulness' like when my phone just autocorrected "week" to "weekend" at the end of the message I just sent. Like.... "week" is a word, don't try to get smart and guess what I'm saying

I was hoping my little meetup would build me up today but I think it just made me tired.

Can't have it both ways, if the government is going to make me do my own taxes they should live with the number I come up with. Don't come back to me later like "Actually,"

Something a little different. Some cartoonists put out a call for comics about local ICE experiences. This one happened a few months ago so it's a little older than current events, but it's a story that I never stopped thinking about. #ICEoutcomics

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

I wrote about my experiences being sexually exploited as a child, and what we need to do to make sure AI doesn’t make that a reality for millions of children.

Going to do my best to try to get involved somehow - like... with people in person... because I'm tired of the internet and what feels like the idea that we can just... post our way out of fascism.
Even with work taking up so much of my time, there's gotta be a way I can do something.

I'm not a kpop person but I recently came across a song called "like JENNIE" and it's incredibly powerful. it's about how they all want to be like JENNIE. but they can't be. can't skip jury duty like JENNIE. can't dine and dish like JENNIE. can't commit arson like JENNIE. it's important to me.

I don't think fame is supposed to exist really. I think most people are fucked up. someone gets famous, and then it's like "WHOA this person is fucked up???" and it's like... well, yeah......

There’s lot to be said about how little AI shills know about art, but not enough is said about how little they think of fandom, of community, of all the people who bring the art to each other. That’s why it’s never gonna happen like they want. They’ll never have the adulation they crave.

I still use FB for a few things and something that makes me sad is when an older person (often a woman) has 0 pfp of their face. Reminds me of how my grandmother could never be kind to herself on her appearance and the terrible ways my other grandmother made my mother feel about her looks.

I used to read books all the time, then I stopped. I made a splurge purchase last year for a new ereader and honestly reading 5 books in a year is an achievement with how work and life has been!

Also hurray libraries!

one thing that is important to know is that BIRTH OF A NATION is so racist that people at the *time*, in 1915, were like, “holy shit this is racist”
When the slightest bit of research shows he was consistently racist and a daddy issues Confederate fanboy.

People try to paint BIRTH OF A NATION as a masterpiece with some unfortunate racism. The whole movie is racist, the “masterpiece “ thing was backfilled to excuse it.
