'And it is neither liberty, nor justice, when we surrender to the myth, that if some are to win, others must lose.' - Don Berwick, he/him

This is bonkers, those are absolutely federal agents. ICE agents have never cared about the Constitution, and the ranks of feds have been full of drug addicts and criminals for decades. Feds being murderers with no accountability is not a partisan issue.

Unreal. Both the Democratic "Moderate Party" candidates quoted here lost by 8 points while the most important city in the country, one county over, elected a Muslim socialist immigrant for mayor

The deliberate dereliction of the internet as a portal for knowledge is horrifying to me. We're already multiple generations deep of people who cant conceive of what they missed, and many generations still live who never figured it out. It was a fucking blip.

It wouldnt have been better if they'd been like 'I genuinely never want to hear from you again'.

I feel like the core philosophy of the Irish Goodbye was badly missed when it broke out of the diaspora into the wild - part of not saying goodbye is *to not bother the host*. It works for dating, too.

It's so weird, virtually every date I went on was followed by not calling each other back, bc like...we didnt like each other. Who wants to hear that, or say it?

I've been 'ghosted' twice, by folks I'd actually seen, and both times, after a little distance, I was like 'yeah, good move, miss'.

I...I think you can?

I might be busy on the day, so thank you, for all you do.

Should the economy be regulated by a democratic society to ensure that it creates opportunity and benefit for everyone? Or should it be a plaything for approximately a dozen of the world's most odious assholes? Who knows

This cant continue. We've lost, like, a million jobs this year, and the whole of sports media is underwritten by people who have created apps to steal every extra dollar a person can come up with.

'This holiday, give the gift of giving money to fan duel, basically anyway you can, even if its a little - give whatever you can!'

Watching gambling become, like, social micro-transactions, where every tv channel insists that just betting *anything at all* is objectively good is so fucked.

My late teens was basically just about identifying great music that people loved, and either going 'ew, popular' or 'ew, girls', and then denying myself great music.

I could have gone to, like, all the Lilith Fairs. Jesus christ.

I hope this works out. I hope we let other people who seem, so plainly, to want to help, help.

I've said I'd give my teeth to vote for someone like that, for Boston, and we have a pretty solid Mayor, all things considered. I want her to be more radical, I want her to support unhoused people against the police, rather than vice versa, but compared to most cities? She's okay.

It was a shocking moment, for me. Was it PR? Sure. Why not? But the mayor showing up to, like, hip hop/rap outreach is not a casual thing. It's not kissing babies. It's a lot deeper than that. It suggested an elemental understanding of the city, and he looked so comfortable. I dunno.

At the same time, this dude showed up on an Ari At Home livestream, just like, hanging out while New Yorkers jumped on the mic and made impromptu music with a roaming producer that carries his tables on a harness over his shoulders, and no one seemed surprised. 'Oh, Zohran is here' was the vibe.

But I've seen it weaponized, and I've seen it used to do great harm to people who didnt even realize it was happening to them, and so it scares me, a lot, to see it again, here, at an epoch, in a seat of power.

Trust is scary! Bc if it matters, it means being vulnerable. We are awfully vulnerable.

Meeting people who, through whatever alchemy of life experience and learning, can say 'I want to help' and can get a really sizable % of the folks who hear them to go 'I'd really like your help', is humbling, and something akin to the sacred. Radical empathy, of a kind.

Leadership is a weird thing - I often think I am right, and that I should be allowed to fix what I know is broken. But, like, I do not have whatever bone a person grows that makes it so folks want to LET me fix things. I havent ever learned it, I have tried.
