Happy to see you're a top-barista ✊ - HTB judging by comb size & shape?

Tom Seeley writes about honeybee decision making & compares it to the New England town meeting (in 'Honeybee Democracy') - another angle on their politics.

Triodos bank seems to be clean. Didn't lose money in 2008 because it invests in useful stuff not financial dodges; still had to pay the rescue levy to bail out the bastards.

No, the interesting thing is that she's speaking as an Arab member of the Knesset, a rarity. Hence the truth telling.

I can't go to the Castle any more because Hackney council rejected their proposal to add a lift for wheelchair users.

It's my local & I used to love it.

I'm in a similar pickle. This is the powerchair I got myself in 2022

It's fine for buses & trains & handles rough stuff well - from Hackney marsh to London's often hideous footways. Not sure it can be hired though.

This beach wheelchair was easier to push. The small wheels are at the back. Great fun.

It's good that councils are thinking of wheelchair users, but I used one of this design recently and it was very hard to push on dry sand. Also the small front wheels tended to swivel sideways because they carry little weight. We gave up.

I've used a better design & I'll try to find pics.

Do post about how you get on.

You probably know about it, but this local BBC story may suggest some contacts?

Links to the perceptions in Graeber & Wengrow's The Dawn of Everything. They describe cultures in eg. North America & Turkey where people chose not to move permanently to agriculture or urbanism. And where fair debate and logic were valued above rhetorics of violence.

That's interesting - Alan Moore in his recent novel The Great When, says something on these lines.

Dad's Army were HG mark2. HG Mark1 was organised by Tom Wintringham, left military theorist & Spanish veteran, on guerilla lines, until the blimps sidelined him.
