Reposting this again outside of the year in review thread from a few weeks ago just because I still really like how it came out.

lunchtime browsing today: while we’re discussing the hierarchy of the Countach, here’s an absurdly compelling listing that somehow features two Lamborghini V12s

Tonight’s Puglia Kitchen dinner.

Risotto al pomodoro. Tomato risotto. Possibly the simplest risotto to make. Just add tomato broth. Cherry tomato and basil to garnish.

Eat Bari. Eat Puglia.

Bari Vecchia is one of our favourite places to eat. Some dishes in Puglia can be found across our region. But other’s are hyper local.

Brasciole, tiella barese (riso patate e cozze), focaccia barese…

Food in Puglia is hyper local. There are dishes you can find across the region, but some Salento dishes are harder to find north of Lecce.

Sagne ‘ncannulate, pasta ribbons twisted to catch tomato sauce and ricotta forte.
Ciceri e tria, mixes boiled and fried pasta and chickpeas.

shit, I almost forgot, the parallel with China was even more explicit than I remembered: Merlin specifically dismisses the Anglo-Saxons' superior availability of manufactured goods as a significant advantage in the conflict
one of the lessons, if you read what Crawford was posting on his blog while working on the game, is that Britons (the USA) should not expect to win against Anglo-Saxons (China), who have the upper hand demographically. it's not subtle: one of Merlin's quizzes is about it specifically
