I'll repeat my ask to Democratic Senators here: don't vote for the DHS funding bill, yes. AND ALSO do not vote for another single thing in the United States Senate until the invasion and occupation of Minnesota ends. Don't vote to name a post office, dedicate a road, or even a procedural motion

Dear neighbor, It is not the time to let your guard down, nor is it the time to stop organizing.

While Bovino will be leaving Minneapolis along with some U.S. Border Patrol agents, there is still no specific plan that has been communicated to the public. 1/

derek chauvin was a minneapolis police department trainer too
The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

I want you to stop and think about what kind of country we're living in when a major metropolitan paper is publishing this story. Is that the kind of country you want to live in? I sure hope not.

Alex Pretti’s murder by ICE was the breaking point for Senate Democrats who are now going to use their votes to block a bill to expand ICE’s budget.

Greg Bovino and his CBP thugs may be leaving Minneapolis but this doesn’t end here. ICE continues to terrorize our communities. From Maine to Minneapolis. It’s still no funding for DHS. ICE out of ALL our cities. Hold these officers to account.

This is Minneapolis:

A neighbor sold some silver jewelry she inherited from her grandparents to cover rent for a neighbor who hasn't been able to work during these 7 weeks of federal occupation and is at risk of eviction.

We need an eviction moratorium NOW.

And resources for food delivery.

We need an EVICTION MORATORIUM NOW.

Our neighbors risk being separated from their families when they go to work. They also run the risk of being displaced if they don’t.

Sadly, Mayor Frey refused to sign the resolution calling on the Governor to enact this moratorium.

Read closely any of these anonymous critiques from DHS officials and you will notice it all boils down to frustration with the PR “strategy.” Matches with critiques of training and transparency. This is why you always need to ask, is the concern with the presentation or mission?

This is another reason why it’s more apt to say ICE is a return to pre civil rights policing, not a departure from policing itself. Post 60s the cops learned that PR was perhaps the most important part of preserving impunity. Now ICE is fucking up the bag.
