before the thread was blocked it looked like you two were debating normal internet usage, which is why im bringing this up

the post before is now "blocked", but, respectfully, according to Pew research, 61% of people reported they "use the internet" in 2003.

it is 96% in 2025.

I think a lot of people discount how much internet access (esp. broadband access) has changed in the last 25 years...

"The plagiarism machines make images where everyone has 13 fingers"

"NO! The AI has become SOOO advanced that its almost impossible to get it to make a figure with more than 5 fingers!"

I started processing every 24th frame of The Santa Clause to detect any NSFW content (with the confidence level turned down to make it over-detect). It's... working?

I mean, I'll give you the tie.

back in 2011 my family and i accidentally happened to be on vacation in Sweden when it was hosting the 22nd World Scout Jamboree, and, like most countries do co-ed scouts. It was a real eye-opening moment
November 25, 2025 at 5:21 PM
fun fact: Scouting was not a US invention, and most of the members of the 'World Organization of the Scout Movement' (WOSM), which includes BSA and GSA, are co-ed bodies.

We are the ones being weird about this.

did a double-take before remembering that MIA was a band before the rapper was even out of diapers...

like, you don't lose at home to a self-inflicted 10-man Everton (who were down a man for over 70'!) unless you've committed unforgivable sins in the past

The shit these zines say are the same shit y'all poast about online, but because they're associated with a guy who probably hand-sewed an Integrity patch onto his denim jacket in 2003, it's suddenly not worth taking the case seriously, or somesuch nonsense? Am I misunderstanding?

'Her' is actually a perfectly cromulent movie (I think people give it too much praise, but that's just me), but the take away from it is stuff about human emotions and romantic relationships, not "we should wage a war on keyboards and screens"
November 24, 2025 at 6:29 PM
okay also (and this is the last time i think about this list out loud i swear) but including stand-up specials on this list is dumb and lame, esp. if the we're gonna get technical and seemingly bar HBO specials (some of which run 90 minutes) from inclusion.
November 24, 2025 at 4:30 PM
also picking "The Waterboy" as the Sandler movie to include is unforgivable. Absolute crime. straight to jail.
November 24, 2025 at 3:48 PM
im not even mad about any omissions because im mad enough at the inclusions... Fast Times?? Just because it has punchlines and an obnoxiously big character who detracts from an otherwise grounded cast (get bent, Spicoli) doesn't make it 'a comedy'.

I’m not gonna lie, I think NCAA rules ruins the flow of the game. I know people get in a tiff over how long the ball is in play under FIFA rules, but I think the lack of a running clock during stoppages give everyone permission to drag them out a bit.
