I just looked it up.

"Utah" does come from the Ute tribe, but there's some debate over whether the word "Ute" came from the Spanish word "yuta" (making it a colonizer's name) or another local tribe (like the Western Apache word "yudah"). In any case, the Utes call themselves "Núuchi-u."
