Trump is not stupid. He is evil. He lacks empathy. We cannot win if we don’t understand the nature of the war. This is not about stupidity. The psychologist who studied the Nazis tried at Nuremberg concluded from his studies that “Evil is the absence of empathy.” It was the one trait they all had.
Dems need to be hammering on health care. Millions of Americans are about to lose their health insurance solely because of Trump & the GOP. People’s monthly health insurance costs are doubling, tripling and even quadrupling.
James Carville, in his NYT Op-ed, says it's time for Democrats to "embrace a sweeping, aggressive, unvarnished, unapologetic, and altogether unmistakable platform of pure economic rage. The most populist platform since the Great Depression."

I can dig it.

Resistance. Reformation. Revolution.

Amazing recommendations here.
Ok BlueSky: what are your favorite history books in terms of sheer page-turning, narrative propulsion? Thinking along the line of Killers of the Flower Moon, etc. Nonfiction chronicles that read like novels or movies.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.

“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

@jayapal.house.gov As a constituent I want to thank for supporting replacing Chuck Schumer as Minority Leader. Might I suggest @murray.senate.gov as a replacement. She might not want it but she has been doing a great job opposing this lawless regime.

In a time of deep grief, how do you forgive the unforgivable?…forgiveness is not…giving up, surrendering…or avoiding…justice. It is about how you hold in your heart a terrible wrong while you act in the world to correct that wrong and try to prevent it from happening again.” Phillip Moffitt 🙏🏼

Outdated laws give presidents sweeping power to use the military at home to suppress protests and make mass arrests in times of war and domestic upheaval. Congress must repeal the Alien Enemies Act, close the loopholes in the Posse Comitatus Act, and reform the Insurrection Act. bit.ly/4oxXJLN
Outdated and Dangerous
Antiquated laws from the 1700s and 1800s give the president tremendous power to use the military at home to quash protests and order mass arrests in times of war and domestic upheaval.

@schumer.senate.gov WTF - Dems should be blanketing every single media source with ads focused on:
1. Trump’s corruption
2. Tariffs 👇🏼
3. The war he is starting with Venezuela
4. ICE abuses - there‘s lots of video
5. People who will lose their healthcare due to 200% cost increases.
6. Epstein files

Our military is being paid by an anonymous donor.

Our WH East Wing was demolished for a ballroom - paid for by donors.

These aren’t acts of benevolence or patriotism.

This is the oligarchy assuming control, insidiously becoming part of how we function.

Every American should reject it.

Hadn’t seen this video of the Chicago No Kings March. Wait for the end. I think Trump has seriously miscalculated the resolve of the American people to resist authoritarianism.

Seattle protestors were met with the Seattle Police Department POET Team - (100% true) Police Engagement & Outreach team. Helping find people who need help, getting medical care, de-escalation if needed. Our Police Chief said he expects to get arrested by Trump.
1/ We need to have a chat about Seattle Police and how they're handling the No Kings protests. They've been really… good. It's a marked departure in both tone and tactics from SPD's approach to protests in the past, and I think it could be a model for police forces nationwide.

Burning the American flag is an act of speech protected by the First Amendment. And just to be perfectly clear, even if burning the flag was not constitutionally protected speech, the President does not have the legal authority to randomly create federal criminal laws.

Mike Johnson does not dispute that “Trump is unhinged.” His response - you’ve got crazy people on your side too. Yeah - ours aren’t crashing the country and the entire democratic world order into the ground.
Are "TOO". Meaning he is accepting the fact that he IS UNHINGED.

There is not a single example in American history of a president doing something like this: having a secret agenda that's incredibly, unbelievably unpopular, spending the entire campaign pretending it's fake, and then, upon winning, going "psyche!" and not just embracing it, but expanding on it.
