Retired maker of maps. Currently local councillor, painter of animals, genealogist, keen walker. Still trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up. Pro EU, anti fascist. #annibyniaeth - Independence for Cymru/Wales.
A crate is good though - Pan is crate trained, that's his special place and Mab, the cat, used to sleep on the top of it as we cover it with blankets so it's like a cave.

I will definitely remember that advice if I have the misfortune to need it in the future - thanks! ❤️

Long adventure story; short sermon. Diolch yn fawr. 🤣

Yes I still remember that swoony feeling & the fear of not knowing where to put my feet to ensure I remained standing. And that was both on the waltzers & when I had the inner ear infection!

I remember I was fine when I was stationary, sitting or standing. It was when I tried moving that the dizziness overwhelmed me.

Absolutely awful, only had it once, certainly don't ever want a repeat performance! I do hope @wrenkh.bsky.social is feeling better soon.
December 5, 2025 at 10:04 PM
Gosh yes, I remember it well when I had it. Total nightmare, trapped in a world you no longer understand. Only had it once, really don't want to do that again!
December 5, 2025 at 10:03 PM
That sounds like v useful advice. I've not tried them but it would make sense.
December 5, 2025 at 10:02 PM
Oh yes, big mistake, you need to keep your equilibrium or it all goes awry. 🤣 But glad to hear you're beginning to feel better. Take care though, it's a nasty illness & you need to be kind to yourself x

It's a horrible inner ear infection - something we probably don't ever come across until/unless we get it. I got it in the 1970s after a flu jab. It was awful, I couldn't keep my balance and nearly tumbled down a flight of stairs at work.

In the past I've had many happy nights with Scottish friends, eating haggis & neeps & drinking too much whisky. 😊🙄
December 5, 2025 at 9:31 PM
Oh that's horrible Karen - sorry to hear about that. I've only had it once, years & years ago, but I remember how vulnerable I felt because I kept losing my balance. And I was young & fit in those days too.
December 5, 2025 at 9:18 PM
Oh no! We need a cat as Pan misses having a cat to herd. But we don't know how to remedy this situation as we suspect Pan would be rather too much for a vulnerable kitten. Mab took well to Pan when we introduced them - she smacked him over the nose to show who was boss & so he knew his place!

The trouble with litters of pups is the urge to take more than one. M still regrets not also buying his sister when we got Pan. Mind you during the 'land shark' phase I reckon two of them would have driven us to nervous breakdowns! 🤣

I was taught how to cook Yorkshire puddings by my Yorkshire granny & have to say there's no such thing as 'uniformity' w Yorkshire puds - but they should be light & well-risen & definitely not soggy! I suspect the lovely @avriljonesphoto.bsky.social is more into haggis husbandry tbh. 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Those pups are so cute!
December 5, 2025 at 8:37 PM
Thanks Steve. They decided today to operate in January to sort it rather than do any remedial stuff today as there's a newer procedure that is considerably more successful. Fingers crossed!

It's not an uncommon injury apparently when you own a dog: Pan her collie hit her in the eye with a playful paw 🙄 That was a year ago, she's been on the waiting list ever since.
December 5, 2025 at 9:01 AM
Morning Kev - I do hope you're feeling better today. We're off to Hereford Hospital as daughter has an appointment to hopefully have a tear in her cornea dealt with. She's had to wear a bandage lens in her eye for a year, waiting for this. Fingers crossed all goes well. Have a good day.

It's a lot of responsibility naming kids isn't it? Recently I was telling my daughter that we wanted to caller Polly, but there was already another girl in the village with that name. 'Thank goodness for that,' says daughter. 'With a name like Polly Green I'd have sounded like a lawn food.' 🙄🤣

It's a disgrace that the BBC has given so much airtime to the leader of a 'party' or limited company to be more accurate, which has only 5 MPs.... If only Lib Dems, Green, SNP, Plaid et al were given so much publicity...

The amount of time I was held in a police cell in the early 1970s. It felt like a fortnight but was only about 4 hrs before I was released without charge.

Wonderful story. Clearly your Dad had some regrets about the name he did get!

Like my mum, I get involved with stuff & so make enemies. When I was 9 my mother was chatting to a neighbour who told her that Mrs Smith, Mum's No 1 enemy, was ill. Without batting an eyelid mother responded, 'Nothing trivial, I hope?'. Even at that age I was both shocked & impressed. 🤣
