Also, in class today, the weapons systems in my game are "phasers" and "photon torpedoes" and no one knew what that meant.

Done teaching for the week. Exhausted today, so while I had one of the most fun classes to teach (space asteroids) it was tough to get into for everyone. Definitely can't stay up all night programming stuff like I used to anymore.

The educational value of my slides is hitting a high this week:

I just checked the copy of Windows 98 that I have handy (who doesn't), and the notepad.exe in there is 53,248 bytes. Also it runs perfectly fine on Windows 11. I make no further comment on these facts.
I started up Notepad on my Windows laptop yesterday and it told me that it now has AI. Notepad. The simple little "look at a batch file and edit it" program that should be 200k long. Now with AI. The world has gone crazy.

I'm pretty happy with the way AstroBots is turning out. Except the collision detection issues I need to fix (and by fix I mean search GitHub for someone's well tested library I can use).

Unhappy with every deck box, I decided to design my own. I had a few criteria:
- No tuck.
- No hook.
- No inner flaps that catch the cards when you slide them in.
- Durable; no pieces that easily tear.
I'm extremely happy with it. PNP only, for now.

Opened the back door to let Bella out, skunk stares back at me. I stare at the skunk. Bella runs past barking looking for it. Skunk runs other way. I get Bella in. Skunk looks back, smiles, and sprays as the door was shutting.

Just went through an active shooter lockdown during class. All safe. Students were great. But …. lots of thoughts on state of things. Going to have a whiskey now.

I have never made SO MANY slides for a class before... but this is the cool part of a chess engine, using bits to do MAGIC.

I don’t like this timeline much. I mean, sure, there’s stuff to like like coffee and dogs. But then the current state of burning down civilization just to hurt yur neighbors beliefs, accomplishments and status? This is not what I want to live in. I think there’s a whole commandment on this somewhere
