NP "Uncorked" Al Stewart Live with Dave Nachmanoff. A absolute corker of an album. Nachmanhoff's guitar is brilliant throughout.

I saw Al and Dave several years back with guest Tim Renwick who played guitar on the original "Year of the Cat" and later in Pink Floyd's live shows.

Nicholas Crane's account of the French-Spanish geodesic mission to the equator. A truly epic 10 year survey in 1735 to 1745.

The unlikely topic @singingconductor.bsky.social has been singing about lately in a new Red Over Red song.

Pierre Bouguer, Charles La Condamine and there 10 companions, Truly "Masters of Geodesy."

A few more of Karnataka
November 23, 2025 at 9:43 AM
A few snaps from last night's Karnataka gig in Tavistock. It was the last night of their tour and they made it count!

Luke Machin was outstanding on guitar. His slide on a rare cover of Yes's Soon was excellent.

Karnataka take a bow after a fantastic show at Tavistock Wharf this evening.

A very cold Brixham harbour late this afternoon, we hung around for the childrens lantern parade with me wishing I had more layers on.

The track listing from the 2nd hand "Trilogy of Progressive Rock" I bought yesterday. Some familiar tracks, some covers and some curios.

I visited "Forever Young" record store in Torbay Road, Paignton. I had only ever gone by when it was closed and totally underestimated the size and scope. CDs, Vinyl, cassets, DVDs, audio books etc. I came away with these two.

I think Pebbles is feeling the cold.

I was considering getting one when they come out because its was the only synth I could afford at the time but passed. Now I have a virtual version from Cherry Audio. They have added a lot of features to the original concept including polyphonic options so it probably not that authentic.

Our grandson's cat has had kittens and we went to see them today.
November 15, 2025 at 2:57 PM
Of course I have a virtual version 😏, a free one from Full Bucket. I must admit I haven't really played with it much but it sounds a little like the one in the demo.

Great show tonight to a small but appreciative audience into Honiton Beehive. @theblackheartorch.bsky.social weave their magic.

William's first "parliament" was held in a farmhouse at Aish between Paignton and Totnes.

His legacy includes sectarian Orange marches in Northern Ireland. During the 1970s republican sympathisers removed the nose from his statue in Brixham with a hammer.
November 4, 2025 at 7:33 PM
November 5th usually remembered for the Gunpowder Plot but on 5th November 1688 the same sectarian strife led to William of Orange landing in my home town of Brixham and going on to take the throne as William III the following year.
