The front cover:

A bespoke shot of Fireball staged whilst Thunderbirds - 30 Minutes After Noon - in production
Wonder Ship Missing on Test Flight WHERE IS FIREBALL? PUZZLED and bewildered space officials are trying to sort out wildly conflicting reports concerning the whereabouts of Fireball XL5. According to radar tracking station Moon 4, the spaceship vanished from radar while on a speed test run in the solar system. Colonel Mike Weston, controller of Moon 4, states that on their tracking, Fireball had reached Velot 4.2, just over four times the speed of light, when it vanished from their screens. No radio or radar contact has been made since then. The second report of Fireball's whereabouts comes from TV Century 21. The editor of the highly popular children's comic today informed Space City that information from their time machine suggested Fireball had broken the time barrier and returned to 1966. As proof of their claim, TV 21 have produced this picture of Fireball flying over a city— believed to be Washington. Needless to say, Space City officials are sceptical about TV 2I's report and are assuming that XL$ has blown-up! (Full report pages 4/5) STOP PRESS Rain! Rain! Rain! ANGRY holiday-makers have been sending thousands of telegrams to the World Weather Control centre, demanding to know why their holidays have been ruined by rain when fine weather was forecast. A spokesman for the Control Centre told TV 21 no statement could be made at present.

THE LONE ATTACKER!! STINGRAY IN URANIUM PLANT BATTLE THE battle for the World Aquanaut Security Patrol's uranium plant in the South Pacific flared to new heights today as Stingray swung into action. In a brief and violent encounter with a fleet of atomic powered Terror Fish, Stingray, surprisingly, fought its way into the Uranium Plant. This highly encouraging news was all the more unexpected because journalists here at Marineville had been told that the new type of Terror Fish was far superior to Stingray in speed and manoeuvrability. Even so, Stingray's entry into the uranium plant solves only part of Captain Tempest's problem. Titan is still in control of the shore installations and he is expected to fight hard to hold them.. Full story pages 10/11 REVOLUTIONARY ENGINE FOR XL5 SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF VELOT 4 THE World Space Patrol broke the news this morning that a revolutionary new booster engine will be fitted to Fireball XL5 on its return from Uraniture. BRITAIN PROTESTS! World Navy Sub Shelled! A STRONG note of protest was sent to the World Government alleging that a World Navy submarine had violated British territorial waters and attempted to land saboteurs. The Director, head of the military council which has ruled Britain since 2028, stated at a tele-press reception that the two agents had been captured and shot. This was the headline and story which seared across the front pages of newspapers nineteen years ago this week, as the world trembled on the brink of war. Britain seethed with plot and counter plot. The facts behind the grim story of the Military Dictatorship that ruled Britain, and the part played in its overthrow by U.S.S. Agent 21, have only now been released by the World Security Council. See page 7 for the start of the full story - a TV 21 exclusive! TEMPEST RESCUED MARINEVILLE Press Office released the following statement today: “A W.A.S.P. air-sea craft today picked up Captain Troy Tempest from the Pacific Ocean and returned him to base." FAB1 BACK IN ACTION Pursuit of the Hawk continues REPORTS from the Isle of Arran indicate that Lady Penelope's known as Fab One, has been repaired and made fully operational. This means that her Ladyship will be able to make up lost time in her attempt to track down the mysterious man who uses the code sign "Hawk". The Hawk has made several attacks on Lady Penelope and her chauffeur Parker, in order to reach the hiding place of a valuable ruby. Full report on pages 16/17. Steve Zodiac Mystery! ACE ASTRONAUT MISSING! THE Space City Press Office issued the news today that Colonel Steve Zodiac has mysteriously disappeared. Commander Zero stated that Fireball XL5 is at present marooned on an asteroid undergoing repairs and that radio contact with the ship has not been broken. The Commander went on to say that the three XL5 crew members split up to investigate the asteroid and that Professor Matic and Doctor Venus had already radioed in their reports. As yet no news has come in from Colonel Zodiac. For fuller details turn to pages 4 & 5 STOP PRESS SKARO INVASION News has just reached TV 21 from Dalek planet, Skaro. Report states: Monstron invaders have launched an attack on Dalek City.

LONE MISSION FOR TEMPEST BLUE WHALE DROP IN PACIFIC AT this minute Captain Troy Tempest faces all the might of Titan's vicious Aquaphibians - completely alone: He was lowered into the Pacific Ocean from a WASP atomic powered “Blue Whale" air-sea craft and proceeded on a one-man-submarine towards the Uranium Mining Plant. These moves developed following official confirmation that the Plant, which supplies seventy percent of all the Security Patrol's uranium fuel, has been invaded and overrun by Titan. The problem facing WASP Officials is how to regain control of the Plant and new atomic powered Terror Fish fleet. A counter-attack is out of the question because of the risk of reprisals to WASP personnel imprisoned by the Aquaphibians. Full report and further news, pages 14 and 15. FAB 1 Sabotaged! REPORTS of a fresh sabotage act on Lady Penelope Creighton - Ward's Rolls-Royce, Fab 1, are coming in to our Fleet Street offices. Lady Penelope is at present on the Isle of Arran searching for the Clingsdale Ruby. The reports state that while journeying from Tormore to the coast, the high tension wiring on Lady Penelope's Rolls-Royce was blown out. But for the bomb proof devices incorporated in the car's design, Lady Penelope would have been blown sky high. The newsflash goes on to say that the act of sabotage is the latest attempt to stop Lady Penelope finding the ruby. Several previous attacks have already failed. A new adventure for the crew of Fireball XL5, a holiday for Mike Noble and #JamesBond 007 threatens to derail the entire thread..
FIREBALL EXPLOSION! CRIPPLED SHIP HEADS FOR ASTEROID A tremendous explosion in the atomic booster motors today rocked the three hundred foot World Space Patrol ship XL5. The explosion occurred when Colonel Steve Zodiac cut-in the main booster motors to push the huge ship to its space cruising speed of Velot 1, the speed of light. According to Space City official reports, Fireball, using its auxiliary motors, is now limping towards a giant asteroid, where Professor Matic will carry out the necessary repairs. (Full report on pages 4 and 5) "WE SHALL CONQUER ALL" - Monstron Leader In a videophone broadcast to the Monstron Space Republic, President Yequan today announced an advanced invasion probe of Skaro. Speaking to his four thousand million fighting troops, Yequan urged them to prepare to fight to the last. He continued: "The robot-like Daleks of Skaro will feel the strength and might of the Monstrons. We shall conquer all." (Full report on Page 20).

TEMPEST TAKES DVER WITH the suspension of Commander Shore by the World Security Patrol, Captain Troy Tempest has assumed command of Marineville. Commander Shore's suspension follows Marshal Ketov's charge of negligence in Shore's handling of the B.1 Bathescaphe attack. A full W.A.S.P. investigation is to be held into the charges, and mean-while, Captain Tempest is in full charge of the Marineville establishment. (Full report on pages 10 and 11)
