I’ve seen so many people spreading the misinformation that PBS is shut down or is shutting down.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has been shut down and PBS has been defunded.
HOWEVER!!! PBS still exists. It is more important now than ever that you donate to PBS if you can.

As posted earlier, both Hannes Bok and CM Kornbluth were born on this day (2nd) - so fittingly, here's some of Bok's illustrations to Kornbluth tales. 1st for "Crisis"; 2-4 for "The Perfect Invasion". Both names on the magazine cover are Kornbluth pseudonyms: 'Cecil Corwin' was used for "Crisis" too

Kong vs cave serpent again. I think this is original production art for the film? The serpent’s anatomy is clearer here than it is in the film.

The future of the web is either 1) a site does not allow adult content at all, no porn, no sex health ed, no queers, no whatever else they deem offensive. Or 2) a site does allow adult content, but you have to give your personal info over to companies who will sell it to data brokers.
Cool.
Cool.
In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court held that age verification for explicit sites is constitutional. In a dissent, Justice Elena Kagan warned it burdens adults and ignores First Amendment precedent. www.wired.com/story/us-sup...

Why taxonomy can't be replaced by 'AI':
The land crab genus Gecarcinus was just revised based on 26 morphological characters, some requiring dissection. Only an expert could do this! (Paper link next skeet)
It is now monotypic (1+2), the other 3 species referred to Hartnollius n. gen. (3+4) 🧪🦀

I think what was uniquely disturbing about the Meganulon in Rodan is that, unlike the ants in Them!, or the Rodans themselves, they did not view people as food source, and merely killed all of their victims out of sheer territorial aggression. Like this fundamental incohabitability.

My favourite thing about the Friday the 13th series is that the timeline is convoluted and doesn't make any sense, so that if you envision each movie as a different campfire tale being told by some drunk counselors, each getting weirder as they try and top each other, it totally works.
