I hear you and also those anti-intellectual sentiments existed on social media well before AI. I've come to believe they are spaces that are geared to encourage that mentality, both from a content creation angle & a user engagement angle

I am reminded of the fact that one of the pieces of Nancy Pelosi focused disinformation that spread like wildfire within the past five years wasnt anything super sophisticated—it was an actual video of her speaking slowed down a bit to make it sound like she was slurring her speech.

The last tenish years or so has demonstrated to me is that ppl dont want their disinformation to be hyper realistic. They actually seem to prefer it being various forms of grotesque exaggerations than nevertheless confirm their priors about whatever groups they dislike.

Maybe this time and with this school its finally for real, but these specific reporters have basically zero credibility on this beat at this point.
