Santa Ragione spoke up, but how many more won't because of this exact problem? If you're a primarily PC developer, Steam *is* your lifeblood. Steam might be great for consumers but they are absolutely, 100% a monopoly and it isn't healthy that their competitors are not viable.

There are quite a few foods I lament that I don't like. Like eggs. Thankfully the dislike of salmon has been fixed after I learned that it wasn't salmon I disliked, everyone who made it for me growing up just made it like shit, cause I tried it again when my neighbor made it and it was amazing

I don't like the texture of gooey fruit

Apples are one of the few fruits I actually enjoy but baked into a pie I can't deal with sadly, it's not even the taste per se, it's similar to cooked onions vs raw onions

In cases like Soul Hackers 2 I think we're also in this weird era where a lot of games receive very welcome QoL patches down the line, so people might be like "I dont get why so many people talked poorly about this game" when talking a game that is nigh-incontrovertibly in a better spot than launch.

I mean this is already a fate worse than death for them. The horrors they'd see in my browsing history...

(I also personally acknowledge that I generally don't hate Sonic 2006, but I also played it on a used copy bought for 15$ and would often say "I think the game is overhated but I definitely think I'd be a lot harsher with it if I bought it when it released".)

It depends a bit on why it was controversial. A lot of times a game is like "this is good just not 60$ good." I feel like this is a big part of why Mirror's Edge had legs as long as it did, because it was a game that felt perfectly priced when it went on sale but not at full retail price.
