And yes, I have heard people say that they think more German military power might be perceived as a direct threat... I think it's more relevant to think about ways other countries can co-lead to make sure Europe benefits from the German effort. 3/3

For me, the much more relevant question is: What would it mean for Europe/ EU structurally and institutionally if Germany is the most powerful actor? Significant imbalances, considerable dependence on one actor -Germany- performing well, and significant German veto power. 2/3
