Part of my hesitation has to do with many of the platforms feeling hostile and to be perfectly honest, unsafe. There seem to be more strains of thought that are terribly dehumanizing and cruel. This saddens me. But I truly still believe in the potential good in humanity, and want to take part. 🌱

It’s had me on the lookout for more subversive and experimental formats on there. It’s also having me recall Vine. Somehow a good chunk of the content on vine came across as organic and sometimes even experimental. Perhaps it was the time limit.

By that I mean that more than before, self-expression on the internet tends to follow specific formats depending on the platform. I’m not a TikTok hater, but the more I study trends there, the more I see people limit their expression to these flatter formats and templates.

I wish I observed the shifts more closely over the years, but I remember the blogosphere fondly and enjoyed reading and discovering the different perspectives that were documented at the time. I feel that some of the big platforms most folks are on now have somehow led to a flattening of styles.
