All that murder--more than 80 humans--in the Caribbean Sea was always a set-up for stealing oil. Never about stopping the drug trade. Trump could care less about sacrificing American lives for his latest criminal enterprise.

AOC to @pabloreports.bsky.social: I think that overwhelmingly, Americans are opposed to this reckless interventionism—People are sick of these endless wars, and every time we wind one down in one area, there seems to be an excuse to start hostilities in another.

Susie Wiles' open admission that Trump's prosecutions are about retribution will give his targets more ammo to argue in court that the prosecutions are vindictive, says @swin24.bsky.social. On the pod, he's fun and illuminating on this, on Leavitt's spin, and more:

Her 1951 walkout helped end school segregation. Now her statue is in the U.S. Capitol

AOC: I want to remind you where the real crime is. It's in the oligarchs taking $170 billion of our money from health care and food assistance and public programs and taking that and funneling it into a secret police program.

Thinking about this from a U.S. perspective: If our neighbors have been ripping us off — as Trump insists — then not trading with them must be good for the United States. But when you actually write that down and spend a moment thinking about it, it sounds like an utterly absurd economic strategy 🤔
Carney: But this decades-long process of an ever-closer economic relationship with the United States is now over. And as a consequence, many of our former strengths as a country—more particularly, our economic strengths based on close ties to America—have now become our vulnerabilities…

Dictators suck at convincing.
This country is allowed to have tariffs. You just have to convince Congress that they're a good idea.

The President can hold tariff powers instead of Congress, if you can convince voters to amend the Constitution.

If you can't convince anyone of anything, rethink your ideas.
Trump: "If this country is not allowed to have tariffs, if this country is not allowed to have the president negotiate on behalf of it w/tariffs, we are put in a position where we're gonna be a 3rd world country. We can't let that happen. I think it's the most important case that we are gonna have"

In a village of idiots, Kevin does stand out.
If he were right, the import price index (which measures pre-tariff prices) would have fallen by enough to offset the sharp tariff hike. It didn't.
