so like, another thing that people probably need to keep in mind is that gen ai stuff did not start off with the negative reputation it did, I think people are gonna start pretending it did to enhance their moral purity, but lots of people played with AI Dungeon or whatever

The time when everyone like just used 15.ai to replicated tf2 voice actors(including the late rick may) for their skits and nobody seemed to care

everybody was posting shrek skibidi toilet two years ago causs back then gen tool images were still entertainingly discernibly uncanny and also professional industries weren’t yet arguing how it should replace entire fields of artistic labor

I think you can start seeing a cutoff point around mid 2023, and that’s the reason why you’re seeing a very late revelation by game devs because games take so long to make.

no joke, this is a realer issue than you even know if you touched grass in the late 2010s. Generative AI is just where NFT dudes went next, but AGI is a religious project to bring about the Singularity so our souls will be emulated forever in Computer Heaven.
I think we need a full accounting of which of the tech executives think Roko’s Basilisk is real I really think we deserve full transparency on which of them genuinely think they’re building a computer god who will punish them if it’s not built.

I worked with some folks in AGI programs in the aughts. It was very leaders who weren’t hands on were like “we have to develop it before someone else does and destroys the earth!”

From what concept art actually entails, the creative process, client demands, and managerial disconnect, its all there but also I think in a form that should be easy to share even with people who aren't in on the discourse

I'll also add this very much falls in line with and exacerbates an issue the industry constantly runs against of executives and upper management being unable to work with and take rough cuts, constantly demanding more and more "finished" looking pieces early in the process, to the detriment of it
