part of why the ai bubble feels like such bullshit to me is the sheer number of stupid floating-point formats that have been developed for it. bfloat16 is dumb and i will not change my mind. the number of bits used by fp4 can't even be stored in fp4 because it would result in fp∞.

works now tho and i no longer have to rely on an absence of cpu usage as a proxy for whether or not plex is actually using a hardware transcoder.

adapter acquired. this is a doohickey that allows the use of a nikon lens on a canon body, so i'm going to modify a gameboy camera-to-canon adapter so i can permanently attach this and swap nikon lenses. metal bayonet connector ought to actually hold up plus it has a locking mechanism.

found a japanese copy of a yes album last night. i scanned all the papers and whatnot inside and the software i use features ocr that can be embedded into pdfs.
anyway turns out you should only use it with latin characters:
