So for people who think "demographics don't matter" check your inherent biases. Are you saying that shoujo is good with a qualifier? Are the manga you're reading an equal amount of ALL demos? Do you actually seek out new shoujo to keep up with?

As always this is from a looooong history of how shoujo has been continually looked down on as a medium due to systemic sexism devaluing media made by and for women. Men will say they "do not get shoujo" or that "its too girly" whereas women do not say the same about shonen or seinen manga.

"as soon as discussion turns to shoujo, more than half of the men [judges] say, "I just don't get it. I'll have one of my [female] assistants read them"

since removing the demographic categories 3 years ago, the Shogakukan Manga Awards has only awarded ONE shoujosei manga in that time
