Oil slick in the middle of the forest with freshwater source nearby. This sucks.

In rural areas in Germany people tend to greet each other on the street etc., but smalltalk with strangers isn't common.

The only time it might happen is when you sit down on a bench. Older people passing by might sit down and start a conversation.

I'm bad at smalltalk but I always greet people. 🦊

I just saved an earthworm. 🪱
It was in the middle of a street and a car was coming.

I quickly picked it up and threw it far away into the grass on the side of the road.

Earthworm Jim gets to live another day.

I wish I could find that Scottish Broadside Ballad about the Horrible Garlic Breath again. 🧄

Wario's Ballad.

Sadly the Glasgow Poet's Box website I found it on went down. The website no longer exists.

I always greet people loudly with a "Good Day!" on my forest walks ^_^

There are three types of people:

Those who answer back cheerfully.
Those who are shy and whisper back a barely audible "hello".
Those who ignore me and try their hardest to look another direction.

It says so much about people.

I'm not the biggest Alan Parsons Project fan. I think most of these albums are pretentious, overproduced pop.

But I really like
Tales of Mystery and Imagination
and
Turn of a Friendly Card

They're on my list of all time favourite albums. The Raven was the first time I ever heard a vocoder.

In old folk songs nosebleed was a sign of bad luck.

Willie stood at the stable door,
Leaning ower his steed,
A-looking at his white fingers
Till his nose began to bleed.

I woke up with a nosebleed, but I think it's more down to the dry air in my room. I'll open a window while I get breakfast. 🦊🎵

"Fresh", sealed copies of Super Mario RPG actually have a unique title screen. This screen is lost permanently on that cartridge after playing and saving just once, and can not be restored without tinkering with the cartridge or waiting decades for the save battery to run out.

I just learned that a word from my regional German dialect entered the Turkish language. Crazy.

The word Grumbier / Krumpir means groundberry = potato in our dialect.

This became Kumpir in Turkish, a dish of oven baked filled potatoes. It was brought to the Balkans and Turkey with German settlers.

In general I love when games expect the player to be curious.

Let me explore, experiment, let me learn how the game works on my own. Don't spell it out for me.

The less handholding, the more of that wonderful sense of discovery and accomplishment I can feel. That's the biggest reward to players. 🦊

I'm oldschool. I enjoy exploring in games. I don't want markers pointing me towards my goal. No tutorial text spelling out puzzle solutions.

I love when games direct me through environmental storytelling. Say my goal is to find a crashed plane. I can look for smoke on the horizon to find it myself.

My mum has been making needle felted mice for a few years and enjoys challenging herself with new themes and ideas. She's just set up her first exhibition at the stately home she volunteers at, with a family of period mice. Incredible.

I wish there was an internet without generative AI 🦊
When I search for fox photos it's hard now to find real pictures between all the AI generated garbage.

AI is trashing up the internet. At some point it'll bury all the real human made stuff beneath a flood of AI trash.

Sprite sheets for the unreleased Famicom game Crystal Triangle / クリスタルトライアングル, drawn by Gen Sato / 佐藤元 (Suishō no Dragon).. He think the reason it was discontinued was because there was a dispute over whether the backup system should be password-based or battery-powered.

Everything is still dandy here. I have no back pain. It's completely gone.

The daily walks help me. It doesn't have to be a long walk each time, keeping the habit is what counts.

I'm fine. I'll sleep well. Good night. 🦊💤

Ren, you're autistic? What does that mean?

Every person on the autism spectrum is different. We have some stuff in common. Like niche interests we're super into. Or being clumsy with social interactions.

Here's an attempt at explaining my autism. 🦊

In Super Mario Galaxy, the stars on the letters of the logo spell "u r mr gay", while for the movie it says "he mr gay". This is because you are watching Mario, not playing him.

Today was an amazing day in a row of amazing days I had recently.

My back pain is gone thanks to daily walks. I have the energy to do things again. I'll keep it up, I'm on a good path.

I'm happy. I'll sleep comfortably now. Good night. 🦊💤

I still use Windows Movie Maker in 2025 to create stuff for YouTube. For audio uploads.

This is the one software I haven't found an adequate Linux replacement/counterpart for yet.

If anybody has suggestions let me know. WMM is one of the main reasons I still cling onto my old Win 7 laptop.

Super Mario World has an extremely eclectic art style whereby many enemies are drawn in completely different ways. Development files reveal Mario went through many stylistic changes; it is possible that all the enemies were made to fit Mario, but at different points in time.
