Really need @tashacoryell.bsky.social and/or @theferocity.bsky.social to watch this ANTM documentary and help me figure out if Tyra is deliberately or accidentally dressing like Carmen Sandiego

Audre Lorde, in a 1989 commencement address, said, "Remember this, despair is a tool of your enemies. That rumor, 'You can’t fight City Hall,' is circulated by City Hall. Facing the realities of our lives gives us the motivation for action, it gives us the power to change. You are not powerless."

All this impending snow.
Reminds me that now we enter into the 24th of 24 micro-seasons: “Greater Cold” #大寒 - the coldest period of the year. Yet also, a period anticipating the beginning of spring and the warmth of the coming lunar new year.

In 2026, if you don’t already, start keeping a personal journal. You don’t need to write every day.

They want to destroy history. Tearing down the East Wing, throwing away NASA archives, removing Smithsonian exhibits and historical markers…

Keep your own history. We might need it later.

Happy holidays to everyone who's in solitude today. You get to decide what this post-solstice 24 hours is like! You could mourn or reflect, give gratitude or binge-watch, join your chosen family or cozy up with your animals. You may not be surrounded by people, but a lot of us are in the same place.

I find it moving that David Lynch loved IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE so much he couldn't talk about it without crying. His sincere belief in the redemptive possibilities contained in that film and what it said about people seems to me like a key element of understanding his own work.

Further to the paywall discourse: Your library system likely offers access to those outlets with your card. It may take a few more clicks to read an article, but if you want to read it & not just be in a snit about a paywall, that shouldn’t be a deterrent.
