Almost certainly the best thing I was ever told about owls was when I met an owl handler at an owl sanctuary and he told me that the wild owls who lived near the sanctuary worried about the tame show owls there and sometimes stopped by to leave them shrews and mice as presents.

I don't dispute that the Salvation Army does good - providing food & shelter for the poor. But, they have a long history of anti-LGBT policies (see below). Current reports are that they are not as antigay now, but still oppose marriage equality.

There are worthy charities without antigay history.

The UCP has made 2025 one of the darkest years for Alberta’s democracy.

Albertans can turn on the lights in 2026.

Happy trails to Stu and Kulak. Both guys had big moments for the Oilers. Sincerely wish them both all the best.

Maybe a fresh start gets Skinner’s career going.

Looks an awful lot like the kind of lateral move “change of scenery”type trade I was hoping the Oilers wouldn’t do, but hopefully Jarry proves me wrong.
Stuart Skinner is included in the package heading pack to Pittsburgh in the Jarry trade.

Sam Poulin will also join the Oilers in the trade.

Feels like the Oilers have turned the corner. It’s been that way for a week or so but I’m only now feeling confident enough to put it out there. LFG

On the NDP, a comment that nails it precisely:
I hate to say it, but they've been thoroughly rotted by consultant brain and have nothing valuable to offer anymore. The party's brunchlords have decided that boldly proclaiming nothing of substance and hand-waving capitalism's failures away is the future.
