The difference is one of scope. The percentage of humans whose employment is going to end abruptly far exceeds any seen before, and this time workers can not be retrained to another job because AI is taking all other work that such people are qualified for. They won't find other paid work.

This is not true. AI is being used in manufacturing and science research successfully already, with software engineering utilizing AI to create software code snippets and to search for software mistakes... among half a million other uses. It's here and it's being used already.
