Paul asked for a chainsaw for Jesus Birthday so he could help me with my volunteer work.

Third day of tool maintenance starting with coffee. Boy Scouts went up Wren Meacham Trail to put in the second underground drain pipe with 350 pounds of crushed rock up that steep trail. They finished before noon so I got to the Coulter Pine Trail railing work on time! An unused spool of wire rope!

The old railing at Coulter Pine has been hauled away, with some larger sections needing more chain saw to reduce the weight. Two and a half hours among some 7 humans. The next step is new wood delivery, the details of which have not yet been determined.

Sedagive. I need a sedagive.

I have about 2000 pounds of old telephone pole railing that need to be picked up, put in a pickup truck, driven about 100 feet down the road, and get put in to a walk-in roll off dumpster in the morning :) I created this graphic and posted it, maybe I'll get some help

6 hours of #volunteer work painting tools again so that they are not lost on our #hiking trails accidentally, and to seal splintering handles on older tools. Boot up sequence: (1) Wake up screaming (2) Coffee (3) Re-evaluate waking up (4) Get back to work (5) Get old (6) Die

My shirt off and cowboy hat on for all of the starving older #hiking women out there to feast their hungry eyes on! Form a line, ladies, no shoving, no pushing, there's enough of THIS RIGHT HERE for everybody! I like to hope a few of our #hiking gays were also excited a little!

Argh! Athens dropped the dumpster in the wrong place 🙂 We set cones on where it should go along with GPS coordinates and a photograph but that apparently didn't work its way down to the driver 🙂 No problem! The volunteers will just have to work twice as hard tomorrow! It's good for them! Exercise!

Painting tools this morning! Coffee first! Next are the McLeods, about 140 of them! --groan-- And my rugged work pants got paint splattered, I should have expected. These pants have lasted longer than any others doing hiking trail and other volunteer work!

I agree with Paul, we should all listen to Paul and do exactly as he says

Be honest, everybody :)

Paul _always_ finds a reason to take the suspect's pants off!
December 8, 2025 at 12:47 AM
The last of the old railing has been extracted, the remains are on the ground and will be carted to a Roll Off on the 14th -- if anyone wants to help, show up at 8:00 AM! :)

Thank you Paul for fixing my plumbing this morning! Do you think my that your hose clamps and "make your own gasket" with electricians tape will hold for the next 30 years?! I'M COUNTING ON IT TO HOLD! Pray Jesus name, Amen. 😏 Then it will be somebody else's problem to fix correctly.

Kiauea is erupting roughly 2000 ft but sideways! From the lice video

Coulter Pine Trail fence replacement effort. It took me 1 hour to dig out 3 posts, then when Peter showed with his pickup, we got so more extracted in an hour. 🙂 The Boy Scout is left with no work to do tomorrow so maybe he will finish the removal on the 14th when the Roll Off Dumpster is dropped.

@desertphile.bsky.social have you looked in to any of this? I have looked a little at Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation devices which apply electrodes for noise-based interdiction yet the costs for devices was high -- around $80 -- with no means of predicting effectiveness

June of 2024 while cutting poison oak off of a local hiking trail, one of the volunteers got this photograph of a hawk

Grey Old Man, he walked in to the house 10 years ago and now he weighs maybe a pound, he's been losing weight for a year and now he is no longer eating. Tomorrow I'll see if the physician can end his suffering. We have been privileged that he picked us and I'm glad I got hundreds of photographs.

Jackie and Shadow have been rebuilding their nest, cleaning out old trigs and bringing in new ones

What the hell is going on?
December 3, 2025 at 10:24 PM
Thank you for that, Paul! Hold on while I get rid of some old beer...
