Painting tools this morning! Coffee first! Next are the McLeods, about 140 of them! --groan-- And my rugged work pants got paint splattered, I should have expected. These pants have lasted longer than any others doing hiking trail and other volunteer work!

The last of the old railing has been extracted, the remains are on the ground and will be carted to a Roll Off on the 14th -- if anyone wants to help, show up at 8:00 AM! :)

Coulter Pine Trail fence replacement effort. It took me 1 hour to dig out 3 posts, then when Peter showed with his pickup, we got so more extracted in an hour. 🙂 The Boy Scout is left with no work to do tomorrow so maybe he will finish the removal on the 14th when the Roll Off Dumpster is dropped.

@desertphile.bsky.social have you looked in to any of this? I have looked a little at Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation devices which apply electrodes for noise-based interdiction yet the costs for devices was high -- around $80 -- with no means of predicting effectiveness

Grey Old Man, he walked in to the house 10 years ago and now he weighs maybe a pound, he's been losing weight for a year and now he is no longer eating. Tomorrow I'll see if the physician can end his suffering. We have been privileged that he picked us and I'm glad I got hundreds of photographs.

The UPS cargo plane crash had cracks in engine mount. The engine was ripped off of the plane apparently due to metal fatigue and lack of inspections detecting the cracks. 14 dead and $ millions in damage

This morning's volunteer work: Cleaning up pumpkins people dump in the forest thinking that wild animals will eat them, usually because they see people on the Internet dumping them thinking it's a good way to recycle them. Our deer do not eat them, would damage intestines so they get sick or die

1994, batter hit to Blue Jay third baseman, he threw to home and hit the runner's head :) The first base Blue Jay was slow to pick up the ball so a second runner came home. When first base finally picked up the ball, he threw it in to the dugout and a third enemy scored :)

Newt apartment now with two levels. While cleaning out the #hiking trail, creek flow, and newt pool, a second pool was added below the first and some further isolation from the hiking tread was done.

Before and after of the newt habitat on Pavil Canyon Trail being cleaned up. The pool for newts was cleaned out and a second pool below was added.

Before and after, cleaning up the newt habitat where rock, dirt, and tree limbs have continued to come down. The #hiking path as well as the creek needed to be cleaned out.
